Hi! Woman who hikes solo here. I agree with the commenter who said if she's wearing sunglasses or headphones, keep on walking. It's not creepy to make a little comment about the hike, or ask about the trail. It IS unnerving when someone then insists on walking with you, or changes their direction to go your way.

It’s not just about being creepy. You can come across as creepy even if the lady is just doing nothing but sitting in a park.

I always avoid approaching women while they are doing activities that require much focus and attention. Not to mention being in a fast pace. Most variables are not in your favor. Imagine trying to stop a vehicle running 100 mph/kh because you wanna say hi to the driver and ask her name.

I see this kinda question a lot. The situation where guys shouldn’t even attempt to try. But unfortunately we tend to overthink all other stuff, bur not this one. Like why?

I think asking her if she could keep you company while you take a break is a great one.

Simple and straight to the point. If she likes you she will stop and chill. If not she’s gonna keep going.

While hiking it’s not time to do a seduction dance. It’s gotta be a snap decision for comforts sake.

If a woman is out running, has sunglasses on, and/or airpods in, etc., I wouldn't approach. Even if its a busy trail.

If it's a busy trail and she looks at you, smiles, and puts her hair back behind her ear as you are about to walk past her, then I would maybe shoot your shot.

FYI - yes, women randomly do put their hair back behind their ear if if gets in the way but they will also do it subconsciously if they are "open" to you. Eye contact and a smile, along with tucking the hair behind the ear, would signal an opening to me.

There's a good chance that I would be fucking terrified if a man approached me on a trail. I would likely never hike there again. My friend and I were almost attacked by a man on a secluded trail, so I'm biased.

You gotta understand. Literally everything is a threat to women, especially men. Like the question, would women rather encounter a man or a bear in the woods? The bear won't rape me before it kills me.

Eww i mean if there are other people its fine, but just you and a women alone in the middle of nowhere - like walking opposite directions, or worse, the same? Its doable but you gotta be very friendly and safe (like throw out some comment in passing, if they bite and answer with an enthusiastic vine, add another thing while still slowly moving away, if they go along/warm reply back again you then stop and get in smalltalk - definitly not direct approach), give false time constraints, give her lots of outs and empgatize with her on the scary nature of the situation. Personally i would just stay away from it. Maybe at a resting place/food hut with lots of other people, but on the trail itself, it just seems very strange to me.

Don’t believe any of this bullshit, most of these people do not hike or bike and are probably a part of the 75% of people in the United States are overweight category.

If you want to approach a girl on a trail, lower your energy wave to her first to get her attention, then ask her “if she comes here frequently?”.

Thats what men and woman are for, to interact with each other. Know each other. Start something with each other.

It's creepy if you make it that way. But if you make it a man to woman convo, it will be great.
