1) my understanding of this sub is that it prefers not to have dating/relationship posts. Would welcome clarification on this point

2) Once again, we can see how MensLib is actually quite conservative in its outlook on gender relations, to the point that it is borderline patriarchal oppression itself. While the poster's first reason for wanting to start a group is for "coping with" the stigma of male relationship struggles, much of his post and the comments is devoted to wanting to help women (prevent misogyny). Between this focus and the poster's desire for the group to be "very heavily moderated," it is hard to see how this wouldn't devolve into a groupthink and epistemological closure where any man that makes a complaint about a woman is perma-banned and the only members are self-loathing guys dedicated to serving women. And you can see hints of this even when the poster says they want to help men: they envisions the group helping men to "cope with" stigma, but what about ending the stigma itself? Hard to see that happening when any criticism of the stigmatizers is prohibited.

I get that the main challenge in any dating advice type group is preventing it from devolving into bitterness and anger reinforcement. I found the comment pointing out the "student government problem" to be enlightening. But I suspect the proposed MensLib group could cause more problems than it would help if it insists on only allowing right-think.

hmm, interesting bit the comments on the linked post. they are clearly Liberal focused, as in, self-centered. its kinda strange to me to read it, like, the things they say are obviously false, as in, flat earther false, but they're just like 'wow, so amazing, self-empowerment, how can you love someone else if you don't love yourself'.

there is also a preoccupation in the comments regarding incels. while i guess i kinda get that a dating advice bit might cater to those folks who are struggling with dating at all, such can also be understood as a predatory grift site.

a dating or relationship group that focuses on successful strategies for how to have a long term relationship, rather than that one moment of getting with someone, has a very different feel to it, and is far more the kind of thing that most folks actually need. how to work through adversity in relationships, be a loving spouse, be a good lover in general, and how to live a good life with someone(s).

but i mean, with menslib it sounds like the focus would be about how to appease a certain sort of person (their vision of woman) so as to attract them and be a good fit for them.

other women don't exist for them.

for them to 'be authentic to your self' is literally to be made for this specific type of woman they have in mind. we all know who she looks like too, and more importantly, what she believes in.

Its like the most ridiculous take imaginable; wanna find love, love your self first and foremost, and that means mold yourself into a kind of person that would be a good fit for this one certain sort of person.....
