Why do statistics say that girls outperform boys in school and are more compliant but everywhere else, that seems to be less of the case?

For most of history, girls did not outperform boys in school, then came the women’s educational equity act first passed in 1974 under which k-12 education was purposely altered to cater to girls. It worked.

Since then we’ve seen other biases such as no boys allowed college prep programs, biased title IX decisions, women only scholarships and documented discrimination against boys by educators.

We purposely altered education to favor girls and discriminate against boys, yet people act as if it’s some great mystery why girls outperform boys. It’s no mystery, it’s purposeful. Much of this is documented in the book “The War Against Boys” written by Dr. Christina Hoffman-Sommers over 20 years ago.

Stats are reported by teachers. Teachers are 90% female. Female teachers favour female students.

it's just a myth . they want to portray men espacially young boys as useless, pathetic losers . It satisfy their egos and global propaganda. Like on this very platform some subreddit bans you if you any relation with r/MensRights .

And mind you in many countries the administration is more lininet towards girl child . They get quotas , reservation affirmative action and what not . Still men are dominating in field like STEM . So don't listen to them .

Women make up 70% of high school valedictorians at US graduations. Yet women make up only 35% of STEM graduates from colleges.

This leads me to believe women are taking easier classes.

Girls get better grades. That's a fact. Teacher bias exist and are preferred on average.

However unbiased test scores show who knows what. Here's my states scores: Indiana State Scores. You can see ALL schools in Indiana and compare them by gender in their excel sheet.

To summarize, Boys, on average, outscore Girls in 3 out of 4 standardized tests. Girls outperform in reading. Boys outperform in science, math, and social studies from grades 3 to high school.

Girls do outnumber boys in AP (advanced placement) courses but within reason as it can't be 50-50. Girls account for 55% while boys 45%. Here are the results for AP exams. Boys outscore girls in 24 out of 34 exams and outscore them by large margins in every single STEM subject. The only subject girls outperformed were language and art based, by small margins. Some STEM subjects boys outnumber girls who scored a "5" (highest) by 400+ boys per 100 girls. Slightly more girls take AP courses but the boys who do take slightly more courses.

Boys also take statistically SIGNIFICANTLY harder AP courses than girls, which can be seen here. Boys dominate physics, upper physics, mechanics, calculus, and computer science while girls dominate art and languages. The rest of the subjects are about even.

The high school GPA gap isn't as large as some people think. It's 3.0 vs 3.2 in favor of girls. 3.0 = 80% and a 3.2 = 82.3%. That's a 2% difference in overall scores. Easily explainable by bias (compare this gap to test results)

Boys outscore girls on the Math SAT portion and have since it's creation, Shown here You can see the SAT changed format recently to try and forcefully close this gap but still failed.

Boys outperform girls on the science and math ACT which can be seen Here. Girls outperform boys on reading and writing sections of the ACT. Overall scores there's virtually no difference (0.1 points in favor of boys to be technical)

I have a degree in education, I have taught, I continue to be a sub, and I'm a medical student with a background in psychology. Boys are doing well in many areas. The only area of struggle is bias and reading (we simply need HE CAN READ campaigns similar to SHE CAN STEM). The boys in the classes I've had are no less intelligent than the girls. Less likely to turn stuff in? Yep. But that's cultural. I've seen bias. I've seen teachers favor girls. But trust me, behind the teacher graded assignments, boys are actually doing quite well and excelling in many areas.

In 1960s CGSE introduced coursework and teacher assessments, since then girls have received 10% more O levels than boys before that it was equal. Before 1960s, O levels were exam dependent. Written exams expose all of their lies. There are significantly more scholarships available for girls than there are for boys, girls receive scholarships for getting similar grades while boys don’t. In India, IIMs(businesses schools) give 5% marks to girls in the name of gender diversity, even though the gender ratio for many years has been near 50%. Literally every cutoff is almost 20% lower for girls be it entrance for engineering schools or any other courses.

That has been my experience also, at least partly. I think it is not that unlikely to get into a class were girls are the disruptive and struggling gender. But in most classes it is the opposite.

For the reddit/quara part, of course there are bad stories about women/girls. Thats not really a point.

That boys perform worse has many reasons. Most of them have been called out on this sub before.

Lack of male teacher/role models
Bias against boys in favor of girls
School system suiting girls more
Different socialication
More endorsement for girls
Higher expectations for girls

So, in summary, even though you have made a different experience and some anecdotes from the internet seem to validate you, the majority of boys do perform worse in school. Mostly because of reasons they can not influence.

That's an interesting question. Speculatively, it may be related to the fact that while men and women both value prestige & pay and job satisfaction, men tend to value the former more and women the latter more.

Well, in my experience girls always outperformed boys in school. It was a stereotype explained by "Girls mature faster" and for boy's disruptions "Boys will be boys". Girls were always more dutiful, tidy and prepared. Whilst boys did some weird shit. Funnily enough, I grew up in a relatively conservative country, Czech Republic... So I am guessing, perhaps the more distruptive gender is the one that is favored by society at the moment, as they aren't taught proper discipline due to being coddled while the other gender is treated more harshly.

Now, seeing how girls are treated nowdays, the dutifulness girls used to have seems to have sort of evaporated. But that's just my theory and my hypothesis.
