Would you take a plea deal, saying you committed a crime you didn’t in order to avoid being wrongfully convicted of a greater crime?

Let’s say you had consensual sex with a woman which ends up with her wrongfully accusing you of rape and filing charges. Your lawyer tells you that while there’s no real evidence of rape, the fact there was sex along the accuser’s testimony means there’s a 25% chance the jury will rule guilt likely resulting in a 20 year prison sentence.

The prosecution has however offered a plea deal that would avoid prison time resulting in a 2 year probation and community service if you confess to a lesser misdemeanor sexual assault charge.

Would you take the plea deal and confess to a crime you didn’t commit? Do you think there are many innocent men who have falsely confessed under such plea deal arrangements? What do you see as other issues related to such plea deal offers?
