This is a delivery issue almost assuredly. My guys have been running this opener for almost 20 years and this is not a normal reaction.

If a girl tells you your approach was generic with a negative connotation, she just wasn't interested or she is gauging how u respond to that.

Non generic and creative approaching involves more thinking and premeditating than going on a whim and on instinct, and you can easily put yourself into the "try hard" energy that makes you appear not preselected and the girl feels weird or even unsafe. A man who has options feels no need to exert energy and thought into being "creative".

You can be generic without being boring, you do this by avoiding past recollections and future pacing. You can open with a normal greeting and segway into sharing your opinions on present moment stuff and asking for hers to see if a connection forms naturally.

As soon as you try something creative the exact same girl would actually then tell you, that you are a try-hard or accuse you of rehearsing it and accusing you of saying that line to every girl, “does that line work for you with other girls” and losing interest anyway.

The moral of the story is women are not your mother to tell you what you should do or what you should say.

If a woman tells you your approach is generic, you say “thanks for your opinion, but i didn’t ask”, and walk away because she is not interested, regardless of what approach you used.

A girl who is actually into you, will not give a fuck what you say as long as you say something, even a hi how are you would be enough.

I personally hate that opener. If you're approaching her, she knows you saw her. And she knows you wanted to say hi. It's honestly such a stupid opener.

But to be honest it was probably your nonverbals that were screwing you over. And your nonverbals come from your beliefs about yourself.

But I agree with her. I wish that opener never existed. I've used "Hey can I meet you really quick" because it's a pattern interrupt. Girls never answer with "yes" they always say "what?" lol. And then you just introduce yourself.

Don't worry about being creative. Just worry about not sounding like you're reciting something canned that 12 other guys that day approached her with.

If she's saying that to you, then she's in conversation with you.

You've hooked.

At that point you can continue the conversation. You can talk about meeting people and share your experiences.

Reading through the responses in the thread I'm honestly confused about why y'all think that the women who respond like this are "showing a bad attitude" or something.

She's just commenting on your approach. She isn't declining your invitation to a conversation.

The whole job of an opener is to buy you the first few seconds. That's all.
If she responds with a commentary without declining your invitation to conversation, why would you stop talking to her?

Tips from a women! The best approach is to just start a conversation based on something around them. Examples If they have a coffee drink you can say “so whats your drink of choice?” And “have you tried this other cafe before they have great ….” If you are meeting online ask a question based on their profile or you can share a fun fact we love fun facts!

That's a lie. I have approached thousands of girls and literally not a single one has told me my approach was generic. They literally tell me the exact opposite, which is that they have either never been approached during the day, or that the guys who have could not have a normal conversation. You most likely have done zero or very few approaches and you are just saying this because you think that a generic approach won't work. The approach isn't what gets the girl, it's who you are as a person. If you are attractive, funny, charming, and confident, she's not going to turn you down or think lesser of you because your approach is "generic".
