I keep seeing two completely opposite schools of thought on how to propose a first meet/date after a cold approach or getting a number, and I want to crowdsource what’s actually working right now.

  • “High-Value/Investment” camp:Always lead with a solid dinner date or something clearly higher-effort. Drinks or coffee supposedly scream “low effort,” “booty call,” or “cheap,” and high-value women will flake or lose interest.

  • “Low-Investment = Higher Close Rate” camp: Start with drinks, coffee, frozen yogurt, or something quick and casual. Lower time/money commitment from her = way higher yes-rate and lower flake rate. Dinner too early feels intense or try-hard to a lot of women.

I’m trying to figure out which one actually gets better results in practice today.

For the Men: • When you offer drinks/coffee vs dinner as the first plan, which one gets more “yes” answers and fewer flakes? • Night game vs day game vs dating apps – does it change? • Does your looks/money/style/age change which one works better for you? • Any numbers or recent streaks you’re willing to share?

For the Women: • If a guy you’re on the fence about (or even mildly interested in) hits you with “Let’s get drinks this week” vs “Let me take you to dinner Friday,” which are you more likely to say yes to and actually show up for? • Does it depend on how attractive you find the guy? The vibe? Your age? • Ever turned down drinks but accepted dinner from the same guy, or vice versa?

Let’s discuss.
