I will not kiss the Feminist ring because of things it did 50/55 years ago, especially if I find MOST of what it's doing now at best useless and time wasting, and at worst, damaging and toxic.

I can be grateful and glad for past achievements but afaic, you have to earn my loyalty continuously, you are not entitled to it long term. You have to fight for things I agree with and represent my own values and principles, and if you're no longer doing it, you're shit out of luck.

Also you have to love the paternalistic whinning "You need us, you need us, you'd be nothing without us" like an overbearing toxic parent who doesn't want to let their child go, lest they lose their influence, and the children gain independence and true empowerment.

Also, I dont remember their being a ban of women studying at least since the Age of Englightment, at least in the West. I am open to being corrected, though.

Also, the women who fought for the right to vote were suffragists. They never called themselves feminists either.

I’ve always found this feminist obsession with labels super weird. Why the fuck does it matter what word you use to describe yourself? I’ve met people who identify as feminists whose views I respect and people who don’t identify as feminists whose views I respect. Conversely, I’ve met people who identify as feminists whose views I don’t respect as well as people who don’t identify as feminists whose views I don’t respect. What I care about is the essence of your beliefs, not the label you apply to them. This obsession with the word “feminist” never made sense to me.

She's right in regards to fighting for those rights for women.

But it depends on what branch of feminist she means. Plenty support men, but equally some can be very vindictive or toxic. Social media amplifies the worst.
