If you're ending a date at someone's house, sex is on the table 99% of the time. If not, at least a makeout session. So, start there.

Generally at the point in which I'm going to hers or she's coming to mine, we've already made out. Get the "welcome to my home, do you want something to drink" stuff out of the way and just kiss her. If you haven't gotten there yet, yeah definitely angle yourself so proximity is guaranteed. Sit first on the corner of the couch and see where she sits. If she's on the other side, maybe she's uncomfortable, so ask her over - I'd tease her there, "why are you so far away?"

A billion ways to escalate in general. You can reach out and grab her hand, guide her to you. You can step into her space before you even get that far and kiss her. If she's inviting you to her house, she's screaming in your face that she trusts you so escalating the intimacy is directly on the table, all you have to do is go for it. In general, when you’re experienced and confident, you don’t need some special strategy to avoid scaring her or looking weird.
You like her. You like yourself. You understand that, most likely, she likes you too.
And even if something goes wrong and she runs out of your place screaming, it’s not a big deal. It’ll just be another funny story to tell your friends.

You can simply look her in the eyes and say, “Come here, I’m going to kiss you.”

In your case, this won’t work. You’re not confident. You’re focused only on not causing negative emotions in the girl, without even thinking that maybe she actually wants you to touch her, to hug her.

What difference does it make whether she’s open or not, if you can change it?

In your case, the best solution is a gradual increase in physical touch. First light, almost accidental touches.

First of all realize that if she came home with you, that means she's open to sex and has thought about it. At that point, it's up to you to escalate because the girl will expect it.

As for how to actually do it, go gradually in the way that feels natural to you.

For me, I usually like to put some music or movie/show on the TV and get us water or drinks. Then sit down on the couch together and talk a bit. Then touch her earrings/jewelry/whatever and make a comment about it. Then put my arm around her on the couch. Then put my hand around her chin/neck and pull her in for a kiss.

Not always in that order but point is you make it gradual.

After the kiss, you can either go straight into making out our pull away for a bit first and then start making out. Then start touching her butt, belly, breasts, and finally crotch. Final step is your hand in her panties, then it's time for sex.

If the girl pulls away/wants to stop, chill out for a few minutes and show her that you're unfazed. Then re-engage. In most cases, you'll be able to escalate to sex after this.

Oh and sometimes you will have girls that don't want to have sex even though they came home with you. It doesn't happen often but it happens sometimes.

You need to learn escalation.

The first principle is to go slow and gradual - increasing physical touch from casual / friendly, to romantic, to sexual.

Your first touch should not be a kiss. It should be casual and friendly touching - like a hug, playfully pushing her etc. Then the next step is more romantic, think holding hands, leaning on each other etc.

The second principle is to not escalate in a straight line. Go two steps forwards, then one step back. Just like you don't want to appear desperate when flirting, you also don't want to seem desperate when escalating. Escalate a bit, then give her space, then escalate a bit, then give her space. Entice her to want more than what you're giving. So that she will be hungry for more escalation. But don't go too far so she feels rejected or feels that you don't desire her.

In the end, you do have to "go for it", and risk rejection. But by following the principles above you have a good strategy.

If you’re at her place or your place the odds you’re at bare minimum going to make out are pretty damn high.

I usually keep things super chill, act comfortable and they will be comfortable. If we’re chilling on the couch talking or something I’ll look over and randomly say “hey”, smile, look at her lips, and go in most of the way, let her go in the rest…the “hey” stops and gives an opportunity for a kiss to happen if it’s going to happen.

It’s definitely a “Hitch” movie move to go 90% and let her go the last “10%”. Saying “hey” just creates the opportunity to let it happen.

Once kissing/making out. Touching the neck, hips, waist, and more and more unless she tells you no. Then absolutely stop. It ain’t happening that night, no big deal, act like nothing happened, and there’s a good chance it will happen the next date.
