First thing I'd ask you is, are you really non-monogamous, or just not ready to commit right now?

It's common when you're young and single to be in the latter category. You date around, eventually find someone that you enjoy being around exclusively, and you enter a monogamous relationship. That's great and definitely a part of the experience of being a young adult (I'm in my 40s so I know I sound old), but it's not non-monogamy.

Real non-monogamy means that you're okay with being in a serious relationship with several people who are also in serious relationships with other people. Would you be okay with having a live-in partner who also had a boyfriend? Are you okay with having a live in partner and also a couple of girlfriends who are married? If not, then you're monogamous and playing the field.

Confessing feeling is pretty common in Asia. It’s like their romance/relationship field is still stuck in the 70’s western era.

But tbh I don’t really think that’s such thing as “ethical” in seduction field, as everyone has to set their own ethical rules. What comes as ethical to some may not be the case with others. For example I’m a type of guy who doesn’t see sleeping around with someone else’s wife or husband as a problem, but I’m genuinely surprised that many in this sub do. Or just like sleeping around with a coworker. My boundaries just stop at incest, anything non consensual or something gory like bestility.

My personal take is what you’re trying to do is trying to rephrase it correctly so it comes across as “somewhat ethical” to them, which I don’t mind at all. Clearly it’s not easy to compromise on or to merge 2 polarizing views. I personally don’t like the relationship “status” like my bf or my gf as if we are claimed and taken by someone else like we are their property. But that’s just me.

By default the human is not monogamous.

Monogamy is a culture thing, not a reflection of biological drives.

To do this ethically you need to let her know early, and let her decide if shes cool with that.

Along with all the bs it comes with, jealousy, communication needs increases, more careful about std, stuff like that

But overall if done extremely well, it would bring u closer to what being a human really is. Monogamy is just culture, really. Also notice that it also needs to be forced into monogamy, you just let things flow, oh now people cheat in their marriages.

Why do you need to enforce a dont sleep with other rules in your marriages, its because fucking others is natural. If it was natural to be mated and bond with one, there would be no cheating.

Cheating only becomes cheating when I expect you not to sleep with soemone else, so back to a cultute rule added atop of reality.

So its important to do this ethically to say right away, I will sleep with other girls, now you make your choices, so now youre never rhe lying piece of shit asshole.

Because nothing else matter, if you agree to something, now youre at fault to sleep around

I've been doing ENM for most of my adult dating-life.

From what I know about Japanese dating-culture, it's very unique in that non-monogamy is common and several women don't consider it cheating if you go to a prostitute for example. And many have multiple boyfriends or girlfriends at the same time.

If I were you, consider that option of trying to spin things into multiple-long term open relationships. So they all get to have the "girlfriend" title if that's important to them. But, that said, it's obviously totally normal that most people will not be into it from a preference standpoint. You just have to accept that and be cool with rejection (as always).

Ethical non-monogamy is dope, but how ethical is the question. It's important to share what's going on, and set people's expectations so they don't feel mislead or tricked. But there's also such a thing as sharing too much too soon - which can come across as unnecessary and awkward. Not everyone wants to know everything. It depends how deeply you get involved and so on. My personal rule is to share I'm in an open relationship before having sex with someone. But that before this point it's not strictly necessary.

It is called keeping things vague with the “we are dating”.

If anything any talk on relationships should come way, way later, at least a few months in.

Honestly, trying to define and make weird lingo about this, like ENM, is weird. It is your right as a man to date around
