To answer your question, yes, flings are very common in dating.

Since you asked that question I'm gonna assume you're fairly new to dating.

And if that's the case then I'm glad you haven't been able to nail any girl down yet.

You need to gain more experience and realize the actual quality of women out there, because you're just scratching the surface right now.

When I look back on the girls I fell hard for some 15 years ago and compare them to the girls I've been with now, they just can't compare.

The girls you see in videos that make others say, "bro won in life" like that video of the wife waiting outside her door everyday for her husband to get home from work, are out there for you but you're gonna miss them if you just try to speedrun your dating life.

Before I met my girlfriend I was the one putting resistance against getting serious.

I was sleeping with 5 girls simultaneously at the time, one of them being my now GF and two others professing their love for me.

I let all 5 of them know clearly that I am in fact sleeping with 4 other girls.

That's how unbothered I was about staying single, because if some of them weren't down for it, they would leave and my chances of getting into a relationship with the ones that leave drops to zero.

But I wasn't just doing that because I enjoyed the single life and sleeping around.

I did that because I wanted to spend more time getting to know each individual girl without wasting a few years going one by one.

I was basically able to test drive a relationship with all 5 of them at the same time.

And of the 5 of them, only one had experience with sleeping with multiple partners simultaneously (no that one didn't become me GF), so I also got to test how each relationship stood up against stress.

Those 4 other girls certainly didn't find the situation ideal and I got to see how well I'm able to navigate sticky situations with each of them, how level headed and open we can keep our communication with each other and how we deal with conflict.

And just how well I meshed with each girl.

And now here I am with a girl I've been with for 6 years and only had one fight with.

Oh we've had countless disagreements but we don't treat each other like opponents when we do, we handle those disagreements as a team, that's why only one out of hundreds of disagreements managed to turn into a fight. And we even resolved that one within an hour.

And she doesn't do any of the typical BS that guys have just taken as a normal part of dating a woman now.

She admits she's wrong all the time, she says sorry all the time, often without prompting, and she happily sleeps in the same bed as me (or keeps me up late 😉) even on days when she's fully admitted to being in the wrong.

There was one time when we rented an Airbnb with 8 of her girl friends and she did something that annoyed me and I didn't even have to stand up or look in her direction, let alone say anything.

A minute or two after she did what she did she came up to me asking if that made me mad, I said it did, and she apologized right in front of all her friends.

And one of her friends said shocked, "Just like that? The conflict is squashed that quick??" and we just told her, "Yeah. Its not me vs her. It's me and her vs the problem."

She also welcomes me home everyday with a big hug and a bunch of kisses or runs into my arms if I'm home first.

She says she misses me everyday when we're apart for a few hours.

She randomly sends me "get yourself a guy that's XYZ" posts because she thinks I fit those descriptions.

She still tells me random things she likes about me to this day.

We also get along so much that she's not someone I need to take a break from. In fact, if I hang out with my friends, I prefer to bring her along, and you can tell from the story above, the reverse is also true.

She cooks for me, she buys me stuff, she takes me out on dates that she pays for entirely.

She's recently been talking about a concert that she wants to take me to and pay for herself.

And of course I do all these things for her too, but it's not very common for women to treat the guys they're with like that these days.

And I believe that's in large part because most guys aren't anywhere near as picky nor do they stress test potential relationships as much as they should.

So be happy that you're still single and that you still have the opportunity to discover just how awesome women can be.

Try to start gradually raising your standards as well, not just for how hot, interesting, and cool a girl is but also for how well they treat you, and that should also lead to you gradually meeting better and better women.

2 Met her through a friend. We hung out everyday for a month and it was going okay, but when I went to a female friends house to watch a movie at night she broke it off (I think she was planning to anyway). After reaching back out to her she blocked me.
