I’ve been divorced for a little over a year now and recently I started dating again. I work 60 hours a week and I really value having a little bit of time to put my feet up and read a book or get some laundry done or maybe watch an old movie. I’ve noticed since I started connecting with girls in my new city, dating feels like an audition where I constantly have to be keeping them entertained like they are a little kid or something. They get bored really quickly and I constantly have to be finding a new restaurant, we’re taking them out to some type of an excursion like a concert or a museum or an arcade or something, there can never be any downtime. Have you guys dealt with this at all? It’s so exhausting that it makes me realize once they’ve left my apartment that I feel like a weight is off my shoulders and I can actually just relax without feeling the need to constantly keep them busy so that they don’t get bored and irritable. At first, I thought I had just dated a girl or two with a higher social battery than me but at this point it’s happened so many times that it feels like it can’t just be a pattern, I don’t know how they go to work every day and then want to go out every single night afterwards, after the second or third night out in a row I desperately need a night in just to rest and relax. I’m not a homebody, I go to the gym, I like to go to the bar now and then, and I eat out at least once a week, and if there’s a band I like in town or something like that, I’m happy to go see them play, but a lot of my hobbies are things that require sitting around and focusing on one thing inside for a while, like reading or doing a model kit. It feels like if I don’t want to get dressed up and go out five nights a week I’m gonna be pissing off whoever I’m dating because I’m missing whatever BS they have planned every single night. It’s not even just club girls either, I dated a very religious girl who seemed to be more my speed, and within a month she was wanting us to drive nearly an hour to her parents house like four times a week for a family events. I can’t deal with the nonstop.
