i would never recommend dating multiple people at once. if you don’t think things are going to work out with this person then leave and don’t waste each other’s time. there is no point in dating if it’s not for marriage

Hi I think it really depends on how you define the kind of relationship you’re looking for, and whether your focus is primarily on marriage as an outcome, or on the connection itself.

Personally, even though I am very marriage-oriented, what I truly seek is a genuine bond. I want to deeply love the person, to truly value them, and for that connection to feel exclusive and meaningful. If someone is in my heart, if I respect them and see them as significant, I don’t see myself dating others at the same time. It simply wouldn’t feel aligned with how I experience attachment or connection.

I know that If i were to date multiple people at the same time, it would mean, to me, that they don’t truly matter and that I shut my emotions off. Because in my perspective, someone I could see as a husband is, by essence, someone I would naturally choose as the only one, that we was and will stay the one.

But I’m aware that this view can feel absolute or intense.I’m just sharing my perspective..

At the same time, I can understand a more strategic approach. If someone is dating mainly with the goal of marriage, without necessarily prioritizing building a deep emotional connection first, then it can make sense not to invest fully in just one person too early. From that perspective, keeping options open can be a way to manage uncertainty.

And to be honest, sometimes people will put in more effort when they know you’re not fully “acquired” yet, especially if they recognize your value. But performance to keep you isn’t always a true reflection of who someone really is, or who they will be once they feel secure.

Just stay aware but it’s still valid that someone does their best for you. If you know you will to later.

That’s why I think clarity and honesty are essential in that kind of dynamic. You can’t offer the feeling of exclusivity if there is no real exclusivity. It’s important to be transparent, not to mislead the other person emotionally, and to make sure they are aware of and genuinely okay with it.

Personally, I know I wouldn’t feel comfortable being with my future husband if he was okay that I have this approaches.

Because the fact that I truly choose one person and value them fully is something I consider meaningful, and I would want that to be recognized, considered, appreciated/valued too. As it truly means something for me.

That being said, from a purely strategic point of view, keeping your options open can make sense if the goal is simply the end result. Some might even argue it’s more efficient, especially to avoid investing too much time in something uncertain. But that often comes at the cost of emotional depth, and for some people, that trade-off just isn’t worth it.

So in the end, it really comes down to the dimension you give to relationships. Whether you approach them from a more emotional and meaningful place, or from a more practical and outcome-oriented one.

Neither is inherently wrong, but they lead to very different experiences.

All due respect, many of these comments are bad advice and they lack any red pill theory behind them whatsoever.

If a successful marriage is what you want, then you are a wife before becoming a wife.

I’m easily in the top 2-3% of men and here’s what I see when a girl is dating multiple men at once: - there’s a list of orbiters in her phone forever, trying to sleep with her - attention hungry over controlled and disciplined - started the relationship out with doubt and felt the need to diversify her risk - unlikely to be able to bond with men (basically a 0% chance) due to how fragmented her attention, emotions and sexual access have been - STD risk - not investable in any meaningful way

Contrary to many of the other comments,it’s not attractive to a man from a marriage perspective. It puts you immediately in the sex-only category, if he even decides to entertain that.

If you want a beta, then go ahead and play that game and you will be successful in getting one. There’s nothing wrong with that.

However, HVM who want marriage aren’t going to bother with you as soon as they see that you are not a wife.

My rule when dating was - I only sleep with one person at once. So even if we didn’t have “the talk” yet, if I decided I would sleep with him, then it didn’t feel right or healthy for me to date other men (not fair to them, not emotionally healthy for me).

If there was no sexual interactions or exclusivity yet, then I would date other people (again, just dates). But again once sex came into the picture, I’d focus on that guy only.

I guess I'm in the minority, because I stopped pursuing other men once I was seeing one in person. I would message a lot of men and slowly dwindle them down to one or two promising guys over the next week. I'd make a date with one and if it didn't go well, I might make a date with the other, but if there was a second date, that was the only person I was seeing. It just didn't seem respectful to date other men while trying to get to know one. Instead of dividing my attention between two or three guys, I'd focus on just the one and work on figuring out whether there was anything there. I feel like the ones that didn't work out were wrapped up more quickly this way, than if I'd spent the same amount of time messaging three guys.

Logisitcally, this was easier because I didn't have to worry about confusing men. When you're dating online, it's hard to remember who had a stay-at-home mom and whose mother had died when they were in high school. The conversations could be a little deeper this way and progress faster to a date or a second date. Emotionally, it wasn't as overwhelming and I didn't have to worry about developing feelings for more than one man. Make no mistake. I had a lot of first dates. I had a handful of second dates. A few third dates. My husband was my only fourth date, though, so I'd say my method saved time and heartbreak.

When I was dating, my rule of thumb was that I’d date multiple guys until either (a) strong feelings were clearly present and mutual or (b) I’d gone on 3 dates with one guy. If either (a) or (b) occurred, I’d initiate the exclusivity conversation if he didn’t first. If he said no, then I’d keep seeing other people. If he said yes, then I’d say goodbye to anyone else I’d been seeing, and then would delete the apps. I also never slept with anyone I wasn’t exclusive/committed with.

My feeling is that this communicates class and respect for the man. But more importantly, I feel like I personally can’t give anyone a proper chance when I’m constantly comparing him to other people. Dating multiple guys at once past say 3-5 dates kind of creates divided feelings and I’d end up hyper focusing too much on what each man lacked relative to the others, and my attention would often go disproportionately to new matches (who I could still imagine to be anything I wanted them to be!).

And tbh, when I think about the effect this has on me, I can’t imagine it has a good effect on men either. I don’t want to date a man for any serious length of time who’s constantly comparing me to other women.

Did focusing on one man feel risky? Yes. But love always has risks. You’re a lot more likely to find it, imo, by taking a leap of faith and focusing on one guy.

Before my now husband and I started dating, we were “talking.” When we first started this talking stage, I was “talking” to another guy. I had never kissed the other guy, we were just getting to know each other to decide if we wanted to start dating.

As soon as I started “talking” to my now husband, I stopped talking to the other guy. I was crushing so hard on my husband and I lost interest in the other guy. It didn’t feel right to string him along. Ten month later, I was engaged. I can’t imagine how the other guy would have felt if I hadn’t stopped it immediately. Or how my husband would have felt if he found out I was “talking” to another guy even in the early stages of our relationship.

If you are going to date multiple people at once, I agree that you should not be having sex with all of them. Or any of them. If you’re having sex with someone, you should be exclusive with them unless you tell them that you’re having sex with other people. Having lots of sex partners is risky for women due to STDs, pregnancy, etc. STDs can affect your pregnancy and birth. And it could reduce your chances of marrying a good man.

Ideally, you would reserve sex only for the man you really love and see marriage potential with, or until marriage itself (though I know that’s not a common practice anymore).

You're going to give your boyfriend a lot of cognitive dissonance if you ask him to hold the following two facts in his head at the same time:

"I'm lucky to have found you and imagine a future with you"
"I want to date other men"

I'm trying to think of how I might have reacted had my wife dropped this on me while we were boyfriend/girlfriend; and nothing I'm coming up with is "married sooner" or even "married at all". I'd listen to your instinct that this might sabotage what you two have going.

Do you two share values? Especially surrounding kids, religion, and roles for you vs. him? Is he more or less wanting to start a family soon? Does he see you as 90+% of what he's looking for in a wife? If so, I wouldn't recommend telegraphing to him the message that when you feel insecure or anxious, your first instinct is to invite other men into your life, romantically.

I know what I want ahead of the meeting. I don't care how hot, attractive rich or potential they have....if its not aligned it goes... Any go with the flow is cut out Any i can't offer consistency gets cut off too Only intentional dating leading somewhere... Some will lie only ro sleep with you then ghost...but with more dating reps your nervous system will learn to clock inconsistency immediately from just body language and energy.... Now I know in the first date if this will work or not...if I like the person I will consider 2nd and 3rd but thats my limit if there's inconsistency....

I’m actually in a very similar situation right now. We’re about six months in, and I’m starting to notice traits that genuinely concern me. If those issues aren’t addressed and worked on from here on out, I don’t see it working long term. I also have this lingering feeling that he may be more involved in his child’s mother’s life than he admits, although I don’t have any proof.

Dating other people feels wrong at the moment and honestly complicated logistically but I also know I need to protect myself from becoming too emotionally invested and risking a potentially intense heartbreak. I’m 30, feel like I look and feel my best, and I’m in a very stable phase of my life where I truly have space for a loving, healthy partnership and think it would be better to see what options are out there but really aren’t in the mood for going on dates with random men

I highly recommend dating many men at once (no sex, just dating). You are correct to not place all your eggs in one basket. As long as you are not exclusive with the man you like the most then you are a free agent and he knows that. It is his job to move the relationship along and press for more commitment. Plus it’s attractive when you are unavailable to a man because their chasing instinct starts to kick in and they start to see you as a prize to be won instead of a girl who is always readily available to him. If he asks you out on Friday night and you already have another date lined up then be honest, but not too honest. If he asks “can we have dinner Friday night?” Tell him “oh I already have dinner plans for Friday” and that’s it. Let him press for more info or to schedule a different day. And never have sex until he insists on exclusivity.

I would talk to 5 guys a week, go out with 1 or 2 on the weekends and repeat the process until I found somebody worth keeping. Sex with no body. This way no one feels used physically or emotionally. I also don't recommend expensive dates because I'm looking for quality and catch and release a lot.

Nope never date one person.

This also helps eliminate who’s serious about consistently seeing you. It’s okay to focus more energy on one person that you like more, but always keep your options open.

When you only focus on one person you’re less likely to walk away when you see red flags because of the sunken cost fallacy or whether they call it. You’re too invested and less likely to ghost him to go through the whole courting process again. Vs keeping options open and dating multiple people at once until you both decide to lock it down.
