Men are typically seen as losers if they are single. Some people even view single men as a red flag and treat them with suspicion.

There is also pressure from men themselves, who often push the idea that a man should always be dating. Guys will say things to other guys who are with less desirable women like, “at least I get something,” or “at least I have someone,” as if being in any relationship is better than being alone.

I experienced this personally when I was working a job where a coworker repeatedly told me I was a loser because I was single. At the time, I was single by choice, because I genuinely did not want to date just anyone. This coworker was tall and skinny, and later I ended up seeing a photo of his girlfriend, who he eventually married. She was obese and unattractive. That made me question the judgement I had faced: was I really a loser or a red flag for choosing to be single rather than dating someone who did not meet my standards?

This did get me thinking how much men get into relationship because of society and not because they want to be in a relationship.
