Post on their facebook wall or post on your own wall with a link to their account with those screenshots, and call it a day. If they are fighting dirty, they can't expect to not get a little muddy in the process. Sometimes it isn't worth social justice warrior fighting.

If her and her mom's comments on Facebook are getting to you then block them. However, who the fuck cares what she says about you? Your focus needs to be on YOU. Running around trying to answer for all her rumors is a total waste of time. Take a peek at the inner game.

Been there. My crazy ex started spreading rumors and gaslighting in my very small hometown and wrecked me, so here's some battle tested advice: The thing is that she's doing it because she regrets fucking up the relationship, and is trying to shift the blame onto you. Most people will split the difference and assume you are the bad guy. In the short term, you are going to find out who your real friends are, as they are the ones who are going to stick around. In the long run, she's basically a shitty person for cheating, trying to put you down, and not having enough spine to simply admit she fucked up the relationship. Engaging her is just going to turn the whole thing into a polarized mud slinging match, and women have the tendency to escalate things well beyond what is called for. Shitty people, though, will keep doing shitty things, and eventually most of the other people around will work out her modus operandi as well. Live your life well, improve yourself, and in good time this will all blow over.

In the grand scheme of things some girl saying you cheated on her in your 20s isn't a big deal.

Focus on you. Lift, improve. Appproach new girls. DONT commit this time - then you cant be accused of cheating.

It's libel, not slander.

Get a lawyer, they'll draft a cease and desist on the cheap. If they continue, then take them to court for damaging your reputation according to tort law.

Staying above it is probably the best approach, OP. You can state that it was a bad breakup, she's saying untrue things about you, and leave it at that.

If pressed, then you can say you have evidence, but don't get caught up in the he said/she said VALIDATION that's social media. You should not give a fuck what someone thinks of you. Nor should you try to validated on your 'feelings'. It's not about who's more oppressed here.

If it truly does impact your business, and frankly at 22, I have doubts how much this is the case, then seek legal action. The more you consider this petty bullshit not worth your time of effort, the better.

Write this on your Facebook status:

"To whom it may concern, -name- and her mother -mother's name- are spreading false rumors about me cheating on her while we were in a relationship. The rumors are not true, rather the opposite. I apologize for inconveniencing my Facebook friends with this petty drama, but the truth needs to be known."

There you go, cleared your name, called them out and also maintaining your professionalism.

Or you could just ignore it and realize that their actions are actually a good thing. Why? Other girls notice when a girl is really angry at a man and get interested. Only an interesting guy can make a woman mad, mad enough to bring her mother into it. Good because this kind of conflict makes people chose side. People who are actually worth something in your life won't believe her anyway. People who are quick to believe her are people who you want to be your enemies, not your friends.

Be happy that you now can see who your true friends and sympathetic acquaintances are. I promise you her bullshit won't hurt your reputation in any important way. Reputation isn't single dimensioned like we are led to believe, bad reputation among bad people is equally worth as good reputation among good people.

Not a lawyer, just smart.

If you're talking about taking legal action, you'll need more than "see what they said!" You would have to do quite a bit for a judge to award you damages. Not only would you have to prove that they intended to hurt your reputation, somehow - be able to make it very likely they are in fact lying (a timeline of events that you can support with meticulous amounts of evidence), you will have to prove a direct link between their messages and your ability to find work, losing a job, ruined relationships, etc. No court would give a shit if they hurt your feelings in a public forum.

The smart thing to do is just leave it alone. Cut them out of your life completely. If you get caught up in their petty emotional provocations, you waste time, and that's more important than Facebook opinion.

Are they just doing this unprovoked constantly? Are you still talking with them? Stop giving her any emotions don't acknowledge it to anyone even your own friends. She would have to be pretty crazy to just continue going for weeks. I would bet you broke up recently, as soon as she gets regular dick it will stop, otherwise you now have some sort of fan club.

I'd send her a message reminding her that you have the texts of her admitting she cheated on you. Also let her know if she continues you'll get a lawyer involved for libel.

Hopefully that will be the end of it. If not go to a lawyer. Maintain a professional air when dealing with her. Don't get emotional. Just business like "It has come to my attention that you have been posting several false claims against my reputation. I am hereby giving you a cease and desist order. If you continue to post libelous comments against my reputation legal action WILL be taken." Or something to that effect.
