I was inspired by some guys here that also went to Japan: u/TodayOrTmrw, u/storms-have-one-time. Huge shoutout to them. I figured I'd contribute too.

Went out three nights. First two, the language barrier had me overthinking, lots of hesitation, not much follow-through. Nothing too interesting.

Third night was different. I went out solo, met a guy at a bar, and we headed to a club together. Got there early, and almost immediately a girl started dancing close to me. I talked to her, we danced for a bit, but I was still stiff and it fizzled out.

Ten minutes later, a cute girl's smiling at me, I go over. We talk for a bit and then I take her out to dance, but on the way to the dance floor some guy talks to her and she spends about 30 seconds talking to him and I'm just standing there wtf? clubs are brutal man. Anyway, we dance for a while and then she needs to find her friend, so we go and the friend turns out to be hotter. So I switched over to her instead. We danced, hugged, and eventually I had my first fully SOBER make-out in a club, which is new territory for me. I wanted to approach more so I left.

Fast forward an hour. I point out to my friend that the hottest girl in the club is standing right in front of us. I hesitate for a couple minutes trying to work up the nerve, and right as I'm about to go for it, she leaves. I beat myself up a bit but luckily, half an hour later, I see her again and I wasn't gonna make the same mistake.

Some guys were kind of blocking my path to her, so I struck up a conversation with them, mentioned she was hot. One of them had already tried and got shut down hard, she told him to "go die" and they saw she'd been rejecting every single guy for a while, so they told me I shouldn't go for her. At that point I figured, whatever, I'll go say hi just for the rep, zero expectations. But as soon as I talked to her, her face lit up, she got close, touchy, into it right away. I even saw the guys I met cheering for me haha. One of them came to me and told me "Just so you know, Japanese girls will sometimes go home with handsome foreigners the same night".

This was maybe at 1-2am, we ended up spending the next two hours together a lot of dancing, touchin, hugging, etc. For some dumb reason I didn't make things sexual though and I think I could've, the kind of thing my drunk self would do naturally. Towards the end of the night, she mentioned she lived just minutes away. But her friends swooped in yelling at her and pulled her off as we were heading out. I told her to fight for me, she tried, but they weren't having it.

There were a few less notable approaches throughout the night. I never got a hard rejection, but sometimes the conversation would just die off and I'd just leave, as most of the time I was talking to two girls at once. My biggest sticking point is going beyond normal conversation, sparking interest in the girls, making it exciting for them and flirting. Right now, I can do it only if they are keen from the start, I can't make it happen with the "maybe" girls.
