If you are going to stay with the mother, then move in and be there for her and your kid. Be supportive of the mother and the pregnancy. This will be tough, but that has to be your problem, not hers.

My son was a colicky infant, his mother couldn’t deal with that too well at all, but I didn’t have a problem dealing with it. I’d take him to another room, hold him, and let him scream his little head off until he fell asleep. Patience is a virtue, don’t ever forget.

Don't be a "helicopter." Don't be a "bulldozer." Let your kid take care of themselves and fuck up by themselves. Kids are tough.they can figure things out.

Nobody is ever "ready." Just trust your instincts. If it seems like a good thing for your kid, it probably is.

-Learn about the 5 love languages.

-You're going to say "No" a lot. Get used to it. You're going to be repeating yourself a lot. Get used to it. Don't JADE. That is Justify, Argue, Defend, or Explain.

-Don't sacrifice quality time with your kid. Even if it means taking a job with lower pay.

-Don't spend beyond your means. Kids don't need fancy shit, especially if all the other kids have it. Kids don't need an expensive house. Kids don't need fancy vacations. Being home at 5 every weekday is worth more than all of that combined.

-Talk to them. Read stories.

-Praise and reward positive effort intermittently. Punish blatant disrespect immediately.

Yes, move in. A nuclear family is the best environment for a child (you are smart not to get married on paper, though, assuming you make more money), and (although you should really ask a local lawyer about this) I don't believe cohabiting would entitle her to more child support down the line. You might want to look up / ask a lawyer about common law marriage rules though.

Frankly though, parenthood is I "do or do not there is no try" thing so you should probably cohabit anyway. Will save on rent $$.

The best thing you can do to avoid her ever doing bad shit (treating the baby bad, cheating on you, absconding with the child and going for child support etc.) is to maintain frame and game.

For your kid, the best things you can do are to interact with it a lot, and lead by example, so that a son learns to be alpha from you, and so that a daughter 'templates' what a real man is like (and has better moral character and higher standards in men for her own future).

I hate saying this out loud but have an exit strategy. Best case scenario is that everything works out nicely and you guys enjoy having a family. Worst case scenario is that she goes through post postpartum, 'falls out of love' with you, does crazy erratic shit and proceeds to make your life a living hell knowing that you're bound to her by a child.

Hey Peter (if that's your real name) I'm new to TRP, I've read the other post you submitted last week. I agree in most of the stuff TRP teaches, its the hard truth. In the other hand my parents raised me in a religion and some things here are hard to swallow. I'm pro-life and happy to find out you are taking care of YOUR baby. If I was you I'll read more about the strategies TRP suggest because you need to have a balance, you only know her for 3 months, you need to establish boundaries. Know the legal stuff and know the TRP stuff that will help you to get a clear view of what you want. Maybe that girl isn't LTR material, but the baby needs you. Make a plan, make an strategy primarily for you and your baby.

Most of what TRP teaches is to get your shit together.

As of what to do with your place. Ill keep living most of the time there to establish independence. A baby and LTR are different things.

From my experience and my experience only. Don't cohabitate. Keep a decent amount of distance. Be there, but always have your own place to go back to. Do not immerse yourself to the point where you lose yourself.

If you're looking at saving money, you're doing it wrong. Never try to save money, always concentrate on making more.

Protect your assets. Present and future assets need protection.

When a man has an SO, and especially when they have offspring, the tendency is to give oneself wholeheartedly to this family unit to the point where they lose friends and any kind of support system. Keep tabs on your personal support system. Do not abandon your friends. Basically, have a castle to go to. Your own space. Never give that up.
