So I think men are the "real" gatekeepers of both sex and commitment. Am I wrong?
Your understanding of this axiom is indeed incorrect. This applies mainly in the realm of initial attraction, and the initial matching and negotiation of a new relationship. Once it's off and running, different couples may evolve different practices, and outliers don't negate the general principle.
This post is more about your personal relationship, than a good grasp of RP principles, so we're going to lock the discussion for now.

I think it's risky to play games like this in a committed relationship. It really depends on the people involved. I'd probably feel rejected, initially, and then eventually want to talk about his problem and request he see a specialist. I've never turned him down for sex, ever, so behaving like this would piss me off. I'd consider it incredibly immature and disrespectful to our marriage.

Interesting. I figured some women will "feel" differently about this. But I seem to find increasing evidence around the internet that this primal enjoyment of feeling "challenged" is the truth of female desire.
It's common knowledge around RP men that on a first date if the guy insists that he won't have any sex with her. That often affects the girl to both feel zero "pressure" for sex and therefore, more relaxed, and finish often by working to seduce him herself and feeling very satisfied afterwards. I think it's part of the feminine need for validation.
Anyway, I'm only doing it while it works. If it stops working and she gets annoyed then I will change the game again.

I don't know about it being the truth, so much as something that shakes things up for women in a rut. If a woman is used to feeling pestered or obligated to have sex, it's probably a refreshing change of pace to be the one to initiate. If a woman is used to men pressuring her to have sex on the first date, the same reasoning could apply.
I've never even kissed a man on a first date, so that RP logic just never applied to me. Similarly, I initiate a fair amount, so I never feel bothered by his requests. If it's working for you and she's enjoying the game, keep it up. I just don't know if I'd recommend trying it unless the situation is very similar.

Kara, everything you say is true. Except 90% of time I initiate even when denying. In other words, I initiate and then back away at different stages of passion and give a "good" reason why it's not a good time.
Occasionally, she'll initiate and I reward her with passion but maybe still back off and say let's continue later in the evening.

It appears that women are far more attracted to a man that behaves as the gatekeeper of sex.
That's only becaues of pre-selection and social proof.
My obviously chauvinistic paternalistic opinion here (30+ years of being Red Pill in relationships) is that women have perfect emotional memory and they don't trust their choices because they've been hurt before.
But when they see a man who OTHER women are attracted to, they say "well this guy is obviously vetted by other women and he won't be a loser like some of my past choices who didn't have an abundance of women to choose from."
Plus, a man with options choosing you can feel validating. Proof that you haven't hit The Wall.

It basically sounds like you are demonstrating higher value. My friend does something similar. He goes out with girls and when things get physical, he stops and tells them he doesn't want sex. When he see them again they always try to seduce him and then they don't feel used because they're in the drivers seat.
I think it's a lack of instropection and insecurity issue. I think many women don't conciously think about what they can offer to a man besides sex. So him showing restraint makes them somewhat desperate to bang him. Of course, if she already finds him attractive. Many woman are too caught up in their emotions to understand how such a simple thing can increase their desire for a man.

Oh, it certainly is more than a "simple thing". My wife probably originally fell in love with me because I was kinda alpha but after marriage and LTR she saw me for the screwed up person from an abusive childhood and anger issues that I really was. Plus I realize now that I had "addiction" to sex as an escape from internal emotional trauma from childhood.
But over last 4 years. I am committed to self-improvement on all levels, did therapy which helped, connected better with my emotions, solved anger issues, dress sharp, have hobbies and more friends, work out, learning to play electric guitar.
But we were in a sexual rut since I used to be addicted to sex that it was always her saying "wait, we have an appointment and I need to get dress". She was the adult saying now is not a good time for sex.
So it is a REFRESHING and sexy change for me to be the adult now.
When you get the full picture like this you can see why my game is very sexy to my wife giving our history.
But it still is very telling to the female psyche that it fires her libido up with the "teasing" of telling her she got me turned on and feeling desire but I want to control myself to feel more manly. ha ha
It's an erotic tease.

Well I apologize. I think what I'm describing doesn't really apply to your situation. Amazing post. Respect.

I think this speaks of the general promiscuity of the modern age. Since I'd only ever been with one person, I think I just... never really considered the possibility that he'd even get sex. I mean, sure, eventually, but it wasn't on my list of things I brought to the table.

That axiom is an introduction for new redpillers. Just like 'babies happen when mommy and daddy are hugging'.
Older redpillers understand the axioms and the rules better, and they know better when they don't apply. AWALT, for instance.

Thank you, this is the best answer to my original question and it makes sense that it was an over simplification for beginners. Thanks!
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
sure, but it only works where she already wants it. it drives her crazy because she's used to people giving her what she wants, and she's used to always getting sex when she wants it.
this does not apply to the 80% of men who are betas, and the huge % of those betas who are incel. they don't even get the opportunity to deny women, because the women didn't want them in the first place.
That sounds totally accurate. Yes. I did have to do lot of self-improvement and lose some beta tendencies for her to begin to "enjoy" sex. This game was about taking from "routine" and more teasing playful.
I'm astonished how my teasing and denying stoked her to invent her own ideas of how to drive me wild even stuff that I never thought of myself. It's clearly because is focused on making sure I cannot back out of sex before it's over. So that extra passion and motivation gets really amazing.
But sex with a guy who will never back out before it's over doesn't leave any challenge or mystery. My guess is that any and every women will see sex differently with a man if occasionally he backs out before it's over. It will really confuse her and give her some dramatic emotions.
Now, when she gets me to orgasm, she beaming with feeling the big winner!! Of course, I don't feel like I lost after getting that kind of sweet loving. So it's definitely, win/win situation.

That's how frustrating life is . We (both genders) have to play this game all throughout our life .
Sometimes it seems - When women become powerful, they become more cunning. When men become powerful, they become more uncaring.

I strongly agree with this comment. No matter how idealistic any RP/RPW is, relationships are generally power play. It's a natural hierarchy.
[–]veryrealman[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Absolutely, still, aren't men drastically more attractive to women when they can consistently win the power play by showing greater ability to self control of themselves? It seems to be so.
It seems a man is hot who can control his passions and doesn't "need" sex and not easily seduced since he appears more able to be trusted in an LTR. <-- a theory.
[–]vanBeethovenLudwigEndorsed Contributor0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's absolutely true men can be gatekeepers of sex too. Especially to women, who are used to manipulating (actively or unknowingly) men with sex.
My boyfriend turns down sex sometimes because he has work to do, and I for sure feel powerless because he rejected me.

If a man never initiates sex he ain't getting it from me. He can even get it elsewhere for all I care then. Doesn't mean I always expect him to initiate.
[–]veryrealman[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Good point. My wife is the same. She loves the validation of me initiating.
So when I deny her, it's always that I "initiate" by caressing or kissing her and feeling her breasts and bottom and legs and such things.
Then after that, I say...hey "don't get the wrong idea" and walk away. When she chases after me. We kinda wrestle and I give some kind of reason why right now isn't good time for me.
I tease her like that. Initiating and back away. A lot.
Admit that is hot.
By the way, radioactivities0, I think you hit on the reason that beginners think of women as "gatekeepers" of sex because of a deep need women have for men to take charge and initiate passion.
But what if a guy intiatates a lot but intentionally doesn't close the deal. I think that switches the role of who is the gatekeeper.
An anology would be someone who goes to see a salesman about buying a car, this puts the used car salesman in control, but when the buyer backs off and walks out of the place. Then it puts the buyer in control and has to improve his offer to get him to come back.
I'm totally fine with initiating and love to get that power rush of her wanting me when I'm trying to back off. And then she seduces me to stay.

Yes teasing is super fun! That's different, you are initiating and being playful. different from withdrawing
