Only communicate with her by email, CC/BCC everything to you boss, and if he doesn't give a shit, to his boss.

If you really are the best worker in your company, especially in a small one, the owners are going to want to keep you. Invite them out for lunch/dinner, and have an informal chat with them out of working hours.

Ignore her when she messages you, collect all the screenshots of all those messages she sends to other people, get at least 1 other person to agree with you that she can't do her job, then go to your boss with all the evidence. Of they don't do anything about it, find another job.

I kind of feel like I've read this before, but am to lazy to read my past comments.

Anyway, first, if someone sux at their job, backbites me about it, and is generally a twat, I have no problem burning them to ash, and you shouldn't either.

Step One: Document the FUCK out of everything. Every time you do work for her, or cover for her, write it down. Women love drama and so eventually the phrase "He NEVER helps me!" will come out of her mouth and you will have a 3 page list of all the times you did. Women like this love to whine about how tough they have it, blah, blah, while they do 30% of the work of the people around them and 10% of the work they claim.

Step Two: Don't do all her work for her but draw her a map, which it looks like you did on this project. You can then point out, as you did, that you set her up to succeed, and she chose not to.

Step Three: When someone says "Why don't you help Suzie Snowflake with project X?" reply, "Look, it's not up to me to do her work for her. I drew her a map, it's up to her to find the way out of the forest on her own." The problem is that the person asking will generally have already heard her side of the story, and she will have played the "Damsel in Distress". You an also use "I can 'help someone 'do their work', but that means that I 'help' - which I have - but she needs to 'do the work'"

Step Four: Be ready for combat.

Two years ago, I basically saved a co-worker's job. I was covering for my boss and something she had let go for two weeks suddenly popped as in Right.Fucking.NOW. So I got on it, and fixed it, just under the wire. She also chose this day to be 1.5 hours late for work, unexcused. I happened to be walking by the elevators when she came in, so I took her aside, said, "Look, here's what happened this morning. I fixed it, but I don't want you to get ambushed on it it. And, really, why was this left undone for 2.5 weeks?"

She thanked me and then two hours later I got some snarky, passive-aggressive email about some project of mine that I should get on and not let sit for 2.5 weeks. Never mind that it had come in that morning - y'know, while I was busy putting out someone else's house fire - and the customer wasn't blowing up over it not being done. So yeah, I decided that was the last time I was lifting a finger for her. Now she's (allegedly) ready to quit over how difficult her job is. Boo-Fucking-Hoo.

Step Five: Be a leaf on the breeze. Your boss may decide to take the path of least resistance and try to get you to help her all the time, because he doesn't want to listen to her bitch. You cannot permit this to happen, so you have to rope-a-dope him on it and make it clear that, while you can help, you are not going to constantly drop everything so you can rush in and do her work. You need to point out that this is an untenable situation over time.

Lastly, I would think about leaving if it doesn't get better. I did that once. Best move I've ever made. Every day I don't work with that woman is day out deer hunting without my accordion: I've left a lot of noisy baggage behind.

Even I'm a programmer like you, I know people like you are well in demand. So don't care about anyone. The shit head you're talking about, keep ignoring her. Say nothing, hear nothing. Be formal when ever you talk to her in office or group chats(doesn't matter what she does or says behind your back). Now there are 2 possible outcomes either the girl will get kicked or you might get kicked. If you're get kicked then don't be disappointed, its good that you're out of an organisation managed by retards. If she gets kicked then its cool and the organisation is trust worthy.

AA, threaten to her about escalating it to your boss, saying that if she can't do this, you are willing to take the project from her while she shores up her skills with the material that you pointed out before
AM, "That's pretty unprofessional and uncalled for. I would help you, but right now I have a lot of other responsibilities I must attend to. This is just basic coding. Come on you know how to do that, don't you?"

I went through a similar thing. It was an internship and the incompetent bitch was one level above me in hierarchy. It was a similar office structure like you said - bosses plus 12-15 other people working, complete with beta orbiters and spineless beta programmers.

What I did differently and which worked for me was that I sarcastically put her in her place the first opening she gave me. And it was on a Skype chat.

The situation was that, I was given a task to do which I promptly completed. After my completion, she was supposed to do the next task, which she could not do. So when finally the deadline came upon her to forward the completed task to the bosses, she sends me a rude bossy Skype text "Why did you not complete the task that was assigned to you?". I replied with a "??". I told her I was actually ahead on my tasks. She tried to tell me that her task was mine too, to which I coolly said, "No that's your job". She got more rude, all on chat, thinking I'd get scared of her authority and finish the thing for her quickly. I didn't. I simply said that I am busy with something else, and will help her with the task when I am done. I held frame throughout. After completing my current task I even went to her and asked if she needed help. She had a voice like she was gonna cry and said "It's more important for you to fight on chat, leave it". I lol'd in my mind.

So when the bosses raided her ass for it, she blamed me completely. The manager dude asked me to write an explanation for why I was rude to the bitch. I gave him a detailed report of what had happened. I held frame.

Then he asked the two of us to meet him to solve this issue. He was friendly with the bitch and his intention was to team up and beat me down mentally and with implied threats. I held frame. I remained calm and unemotional and rebuked every thing the bitch threw at me with logic. I looked the manager straight in the eye as I told him that she was rude first, while at the same time tried to intimidate me into fulfilling her responsibilities. At one point he even close to me, stared at me dead in the eyes, and tried to physically intimidate me. I kept staring back for a bit, and then legit LOL'd at his face. At this point he gave up. He asked the bitch to improve her business communication. He then proceeded to tell me about the problems he faces in managing a diverse work force. I gave him pointers. After this incident the manager kept asking me for organizational design related help all the time.

The bitch apologized to me. To play the game, I apologized to the bitch too in front of the manager for "letting this happen". From then on she was always sweet to me. She once even asked me out during the lunch break. But I was already balls deep in two other lizards at the office, and didn't want to court too much drama.

It was just an internship so I felt confident taking all these risks. I also had a backup internship just in case.

I think the lesson from this story is to 1) be fucking good at your job 2) hold frame in face of all sorts of intimidations 3) have a backup

The bosses won't care about your petty issues with her. They will care about the project being done. Get the project done right and get other group members to bare the weight that she's not carrying. As they start doing her work for her they will most likely start up a whisper campaign which will hurt her credibility. This will let others know that she's not doing her share. After the project is over ask your bosses not to be put on a team with her in the future.

To me you seem like a passive aggressive asshole who can't communicate and hates women. Why do you even talk about her gender in this case? She might as well have been a guy. Just be a decent humanbeing and help her properly instead of hamstering here with your negative and useless thoughts.
