I have 7 children.

I now understand the one reason to get married.

It's not the money. I have poured $1,200,000 into two marriages. I live in a rented house and drive a 17 year old car with 305,000 miles on it.

It's not love. That shit ebbs and flows like the tide on the seashore.

It's not devotion or loyalty or fidelity. My 1st wife cheated on me with money. My second wife cheated on me with another man. There won't be a third wife.

It's not my legacy. By the 4th generation your seed is diluted to less than 10%. Honestly, right now, without looking, can you name 4 of your great grandparents' names?

There is only one reason to get married, can you name it?

Until you can, just fucking stop it.

Nothing gets better when you get married.

Most women thrive as stay at home moms. If they are provided for well, and there is good family / community structure, most women would prefer such a life.

It is highly efficient and good for the well being of the family, especially children.

The problem is the 7 year itch. Once the kids are in school or so...

She'll need something wholesome to occupy her time. Risk is very high that at least by then, she strays. Our "modern" society basically promotes it.

You have to make leaving you less attractive than staying with you.

Family / community use to help with that. Sadly not often any more in the last decades, unless in a church community or so. The government makes it so easy for them to leave the man... and he is forced to pay the rest of his life for a family he is no longer part of.

Better make damn sure her life will be much easier with you than if she ever goes rouge. Those children are HER life-long responsibility too. Better she's on board with that.

My wife became a SAHM about 7 years ago probably.

After the kids were born After I had gotten well past the point in my career where financially this was not an issue After she had finished her own school and worked 5 years in her field (medical) After I did all the math and figured out if it made sense dollars wise for her to do it After she had proven herself worthy of the title SAHM

It works for me because she earned it. Because she knows she brings great value to our family buy doing it. Because she knows that with her support I can own my fucking shit day in and day out at primary and secondary jobs. Because I keep myself in excellent physical shape so she must do the same. Because. Because. Because.

You are setting yourself up for failure and a miserable existence going about it your way.

Very few women can do the SAHM job successfully. It requires the man to own his shit first, setting the standard.

Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings. Every time a wedding bell rings, I hear the wailing cries of 10,000 men. Gnashing their teeth and writhing in agony. Crying out for the poor fool who just ruined his life.

The angel getting its wings from the wedding bells is a demon.

It took me five years to get my wife back to work. Literally. We had to give up a beautiful house due to the need to pay for autism therapy for our son. She was so opposed to working that she, through her actions, made it necessary for us to move down at least two rungs in order to afford life. Three years after that, I finally gave her the ultimatum. She still bitches about it. Fucking woe is me. Boo hoo. At least she earns something now. But she makes it clear that she would rather fuck off with her friends with no jobs (SAHMs with kids in school so zero responsibilities) than suffer through working an easy job.

There’s no “talking her into it.” She needs to be properly vetted and that should should be discussed far before a ring is placed on her finger much less her shitting out your offspring.

After our first child, she kept working but once the second and third were born her paycheck was barely covering daycare. It was an easy financial decision, but like me, she had attended university and had put considerable time and money into her career.

When it came time, I told her that I wanted her to stay home to raise our children. I also told her that I understood that her career was important but that America lacks too many mothers/fathers at home. I told her if she wanted a career, I’d support her in that and make it work, but that I prefer a SAHM.

The decision for her was easy and 8 years later it has worked out extremely well for us.

Lead her down the path.

It naturally occurred

The type that is into her career and thinks she is going to dominate the world is the wrong person to marry. It was easy to determine back in the day. My wife's father even said to her "You need to have a job so you don't have to rely on a man" We had a kid and then she had to leave that kid in the daycare. Every single time she dropped off the kid she hated it.

Hope you have a good plan to produce at least 65k. (That is the part of this that is rough)

That was 20 years ago. Worked fine for us.
