I'm in the UK right now and, for those who don't know, Scotland is holding a referendum about leaving the union.

Generally speaking, Scotland is rarely, if ever, featured in English media. It's just sort of there and taken for granted.

As soon as Scotland takes a serious step towards leaving the UK, every politician starts singing its praises, promising extra powers to the Scotting parliment, making political visits to Scottish towns, etc.

For me, this illustrates an important point. Always be willing to walk away from a relationship, whether it is romantic, friendship, business or political. If people want you around, they'll make the effort to keep you there.
