I second the vote to make sure that your wife/mother of your children has good earning potential before you ever marry them. My ex makes more money than I do so when it came time for support, she actually owed ME money, which came off of my child support because she has primary custody.

I also constantly remind her that if I ever decide to do a 50/50 split with the kids that she will owe ME substantial amounts of child support because of her guaranteed salary, whereas I own my own business and can control my taxable income.

TL;DR: Don't marry a woman who isn't educated and has no job.

If you want to get married and have kids, but you're worried about losing everything in divorce, my suggestion is to find a woman more professionally successful than you.

If she outearns you by a lot and you're a stay at home dad, if anything ever went bad, she'd be the one to lose. But ou should have a lot of time for self improvement so she won't ever consider that.

Think Doctors or medical field high achievers. They're used to operating within an ethical code. They're also generally too busy with work to get into trouble.

well, those guys aren't giving most of their checks in child support kiddo. there are limits on what child support can take from you. it's still outrageous (i pay about 400 a week but i make a high salary), but alimony is what really fucks these guys over.

as far as being mad about it, i was mad about it for a long time, for a lot of reasons, but in the end there is literally nothing you can do about child support. it's an equation that takes her salary, yours, amount of kids, and puts out a number. it can't be more than some percentage of your check. so, being mad about it solves nothing.

you can prevent child support by getting a vasectomy or wearing rubbers. you can prevent alimony by never getting married, which is the easier thing to prevent IMO.
