I want to talk about something I have been thinking about. I'm a 22 years old girl. I've always been very shy and because of difficult family situation back in high school I wouldn't dress nicely or like invest in my appearance. Both because I didn't have money for clothes and because I was very emotionally drained (sorry for over sharing, none cares). But anyways everything is better now and I'm also in a better place.

Back in high school (I'm talking from age 15/18) there was this short, dumb, slow, ugly man. He would wear the same outfit everyday. A T-shirt and sweatpants. Add in a jacket during winter. I mean usually I don't like to go around criticizing people for their physical appearance (specially when it's stuff they can't change about themselves). But like the point is that this boy would always shame me for my clothes, for how fat I was (he was definitely more fat than me but he would describe himself as "strong"), etc. And once we were older he would still be the one criticizing girls for their appearance. And at the age of 22 it's the same. Still criticizing every girl he knows.

And now I was thinking back at this and realize... How? How did I let that man's opinion affect me? How can a man like him look at himself in the mirror and think that he's in the position to criticize other women? I mean if was only during high school I would say he was too childish. But what excuse does he have now?

He's the typical men who will call a women fat if she's not thin like a model. He pretty much considers every women below Megan Fox level ugly. And he's the one who'll go around saying how all feminists are just fat girls who like to victimize themselves when man give them no attention. But the cries about women not liking short guys. What? So he puts zero effort into his appearance but expects a girl looking like a model to accept him? I just been noticing this pattern in a lot of men. They will complain about being short but like the problem isn't the height. It's how you dress, how you act and move, your hair, if you're fit, if you're smart, if you are kind and charismatic, if you treat us with respect... And this are all things they can change about themselves. But they refuse to do so and expect a women to constantly look pretty for them and honestly that's just double standards.

Sorry if this doesn't belong here and for the rant. I just feel so dumb because I was letting other men put me down and it just struck me how ironic this is. And also usually the worst looking men are the ones who will have more opinions on how women should look and what their type is.

Edit: someone said in the comments that's not fair for me to call him out on stuff he did in high school (15-18 years old). I literally say, if he only did it before I could think that he was childish or whatever. But to this day (he's 22) he still does the same. He makes the same comments about young waitress that serve him, about coworkers and girls he knows. So that's why I was criticizing it. And also just because he said this things to me when he was younger they still affected me but now I see the irony of it :)
