Quick anxiety question.

Reddit View
March 15, 2019

Last week to two weeks I've been having terrible anxiety and I have no idea where is coming from but it's annoying the fuck out of me. It's causing me to overthink everything including my wife. Nothing but a medication change about a month ago so I can't explain it. Went to the doctor and he said it's nothing.

You guys got any good ideas to make this shit go away?

I went through something similar a about 5 months back. I was eating well, working out 4 times a week. Yet developed this deep anxious feeling almost 24/7 that made my stomach churn. Had never really experienced anxiety before other then general anxty teen moments as a teenager. Was directing a tech start up and just couldn't think straight for decision making and knew i was coming off as axious when dealing with new and potential clients. Was also feeling axious around my LTR of 3 and a half years. I realised i was just burnt out after working pretty much 7 days for the past year and had to just relax for 2 weeks. Then came to the realisatipn that her intrest in me was fading because I simply could not provide much value to my LTR and most of my time and pretty much all of my money went into the business. Couldn't afford to eat out and just do the general date things we enjoyed togeather. She was not a unicorn but the closest thing you get to a debt free virgin with quallity house wife skills in our current society. But our relationship had become, cook dinner, netflix and chill onece a week. It was a hard pill to swallow but I knew I had to focus on my purpose (the business) and couldn't maintain a quallity relationship and had to cut it loose.

The following month was hard but the anxiety slowly faded. Im much happier and more foucused just working on my mission even though I dont have time for woman currently. The future is looking bright and I'm increasing my value everyday.

Take sime time off. Go hiking or fishing or some shit and just forget about life. You'll be able to look at things with a new perspective and just might work out what is causing the anxiety.

Good luck.

Hows your sleep, diet, exercise, sun intake, and water intake?

[–]BurnedRemains[S] 2 points3 points  (9 children) | Copy

I work 80 hours a week so I sleep about 5-6 hours every night. Diet is excellent. Nothing but meat (gut condition prevents me from eating other foods without pain.) Exercise is consistent 1 hour of lifting between jobs second job is nothing but walking and I average about 20 miles a day. Sun intake is shit but I take d3 5000 a day to help. Water intake is through the roof. Usually about 2-3 gallons a day. Feel like I piss every 10 minutes.

Well shit dude, here's your problem. You work 80 hours a week and sleep 5-6 hours. What the fuck do you do for yourself besides lift? What brings you joy? Figure that shit out and a plan to reduce your work week down to 40-50 hours. Own that shit and don't bitch about it here.

Horny is right. Some guys can get by on 5 hours of sleep. I need 6 to function properly. See if you can get up to 6-7 range.

Also, 80 hours is a ton of work. 20 miles a day walking with no sun sounds like you're doing security at night or in a big warehouse. Work towards a single job that pays enough instead of killing yourself with all the hours. Hint: it's not going to be blue collar. Having that 30-40 hours a week back to live your life will do wonders for your mental health.

Your diet sounds crazy. Meat only? What medical condition has you eating nothing but meat?

I'm getting anxiety just reading this. Your lifestyle is unhealthy. It's affecting your mental and physical health. It will get worse and eventually kill you if you don't sort it out.

Anything less than 7 hours at the MINIMUM will affect you in a negative way. Check out joe rogan podcast with matthew walker

Unless you're the fucking terminator. 6 hrs of sleep. Works construction job goes to acting class and still lifts for 4 hrs.

I sleep 3-4 hrs a night for the past 14 years. I still add 5 lbs a week to my bench. Fuck sleep.

[–]NoCoast822 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

...past 14 years. I still add 5 lbs a week to my bench

So you have added 3600lbs to your bench in the past 14 years? Or you have added 260lbs to your bench in the last year?

Lifting 4hrs a day... STFU

[–]jerrymcguiver0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I've added 40 lbs in past 2 months. Up to benching 1 plate now.

Good sleep is fundamental. You are burned out, not anxious. Correct the sleep and see if it becomes better. Not one or two nights either, I am talking at least ten days of eight hours+.

Do you caffeine....bro?

What was the medication change? Some meds take a few weeks to affect you.

My tips for dealing with anxiety:

  • Work on and figure out what you're overthinking. Write it down. Determine if 1) it's in your control or 2) if it's not in your control. If it's 2 - no sense in worrying because you can't affect it. If 1) figure out what action(s) you want to do and write THEM down. Then start to do them.
  • You need sleep - at least 7 a day. Especially with how hard you're pushing yourself with 80 hours / week of work, and lifting schedule, you're body needs the rest.
  • Cut down caffeine in take
  • Meditate 5-10 mins a day
  • Focus on breathing when you're feeling excessively anxious

You need to work on your inner game. You don’t know who the fuck you are.

Depression is rooted in the past. Anxiety is rooted in the future.

But there is power in the Present. The point of power is always in the Present.

Are you journaling? Meditating? Taking care of yourself? Do you know what you stand for? Your values? Are you practicing gratitude every day?

Anxiety is a lagging indicator that your inner world is fucked up. You need to work on it, just like going to the gym.

Have you had any recent bloodwork? I’d like to see your blood panel.

What do your labs show? How’s your e2? Is it high/low?

Do you do cardio vascular work?

Is there something important or semi-important that you are procrastinating on?

Given that you seem to be under regular medical supervision, I'll assume any chemical unbalance is getting sorted out. Now, you need to deal with reality. That's your job.

  • Have you read "No More Mr. Nice Guy" yet? If not, stop everything and get a copy. YOU MUST DO THIS.
  • I took a look at your posting history... STOP WASTING YOUR FUCKING LIFE on video games.
  • Sleep more. Please don't lie about your "lifting". You don't lift fuck on 5 hours of sleep, medication, and video games.

Heavy lifting 3 x's a week is the cure all for anxiety.

However, while it stems the feelings, it is usually best to find the source and stop it.

I smell an Elephant in the room. You know EXACTLY what is causing the anxiety so fess up. What is it?

If there really is no source, which I highly doubt, then look at your hormone levels. Anything highly estrogenergic can cause intense anxiety as you describe in men. Could also be a temporary virus or spring (Hay) fever. Do you wake up at night and can't get back to sleep?

I got some lab work done and found out I have an infection which is evidently killing my test levels. Went from about 500 to 350 with a rise in total estrogen. Kidneys are likely the source of the infection as my GFR is 55 and my creatinine level is 1.6. Definitely not good at my age. So going for some routine UTI type testing.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
