So, it's no secret that the male lurkers that stalk this sub accuse us ladies of being a bunch of anti-sex prudes because we don't happen to get turned on by men violently strangling, spitting on or otherwise degrading women. The whole scene is shot in warm, golden light and shadow, we see the gentle interplay of hands, the lingering eye contact, the heavy breathing. What I love about the scene is that it leaves the precise nature of it ambiguous - at one point Hawkeye lifts Cora up and when the camera pans to them later, she looks very satisfied in his arms, but equally, they could just have shared a very passionate, intense kiss. It also doesn't hurt that Daniel Day Lewis is hella gorgeous in this movie and Hawkeye is total HVM.
