You have to talk about it now before it gets very weird, if you are an adult is not normal if is not for religious reasons. Do you kiss and cuddle?

It's very difficult to tell, but he can be or extremely shy and afraid of ruining the relationship or have a medical problem that he is embarassed to talk about, or be scared because inexperienced. The worts thing is that he may not be sexually attracted to you or women, but if you don't talk about it you will never know. You canno't get into a serious relationship without even knowing if you are compatible or not, your sex drive will not be dormant forever.

If you guys are teenagers, this is perfectly ok. But adults with zero sexual activity in a year and a half is far from typical. Perhaps he is asexual but he might as well be gay. The only way you can find out is to talk to him. Not sure which culture you are from but perhaps this is also a way to show you respect regardless of religion (although if your mom is concerned about it my guess is that this is not the case). You are confident there is no medical issues involved but there could be plenty - micro penis, erectile disfunction, gentian warts etc. just talk to him I’m a way where it’s safe and stress that infrequent sex isn’t an issue for you

He might be uninterested in sex, or he could be shy. I’m personally quite shy by nature when it comes to intimacy, he might be the same. I don’t think its a big problem but you should talk to him about it if you’re worried. Sexual compatibility is something you need to talk about at some point anyways, if you plan on being long term dating.

Intimacy is an important part of relationships. However, that does not mean that you absolutely NEED to be having sex with your boyfriend. Since you say that you and him are not intimate in non-intercourse ways either, you definitely need to talk to your boyfriend about this issue. Maybe he is under the assumption that the two of you have decided to wait until marriage? If you feel uncomfortable directly confronting him about this issue, you could just try heating things up a bit and see where it leads. Maybe he does not want to push you out of your comfort zone so he's waiting for you to initiate things?

Gay or asexual are the onky things that make sense and both are OK. If he's gay he deserves to be with someone he's attracted to, if he's asexual it sounds like you are too so it might be OK for both of you. The fact it's never come up in such a long time is a bit odd tho.
