Lol the prideful ones are all in shape athletes what a dumb study.

[–]Offensive_Brute3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Of course the study would also show that men are disgusted by prideful women, because the prideful women are a bunch of bull dyke in shape athletes.

[–]nninja3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I dunno I'd give it to a couple of those athletes. They got that booty lol

[–]Offensive_Brute0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'mnot into hard body women. I'd rather have her a little fat than sinewy.

[–]BooksofMagic1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hear ya bro - women are better softer than all muscled up. Not fat though.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you're in shape yourself hard bodied women are still soft.

[–]Offensive_Brute-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

not buying that for a second.

[–]redditor157 3 points3 points3 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

True. It was a dumb study. However there's a silver lining - I like the fact that a post like this outlining the truth is actually getting upvoted. I can't even imagine the reverse happening on one of the feminist subs. TBH it blows my mind to even think for a second that they would ever not hamster and admit that they were wrong.

[–]nninja1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

That is a good point actually. Those feminist subs are just there for them to validate each other, it's not about debate or gaining knowledge.

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points35 points 12 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Theyre different people? How is this a scientific study?

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Its social science aka "soft" science.

[–]frequentlywrong15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

aka 80% bullshit. If anyone has not seen the brainwash series it is very enlightening. Posted here weeks ago.

Sciencentific research is easy. You just have to get your head out of your ass and start looking for reasons your hypothesis is wrong, instead of trying to validate it using bullshit research. Even a comedian can do it!

[–]redbluepilling2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, the people featured here have a personal agenda and have some terrible experiments/studies. It differs from the psychology/social psychology I've studied. Largely, people recognize the biopsychosocial model now, and they're open to interdisciplinary science.

[–]rogueman9994 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Psychology and sociology can be as hard as you want, as long as you know your statistics. I've seen stuff as good as any physics paper. That is just shitty science.

Btw, which study was it?

[–]1whatsazipper3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

aka not science

[–]Offensive_Brute2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its the science of collecting shitty data and misrepresenting it to the public to support your hypothesis.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

aka solipsistic science.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Would it really be too hard for them to find 10 men and 10 women who volunteer to be photographed in four different poses?

It would be so easy. Really. They are not in middle school anymore. I do not agree that psychology is not a hard science. They just do it wrong. They are in university and this takes a little effort. So find some volunteers and take pictures of them. You can not spend 10 minutes on google images and take the first 10 results of "pride man" and get a academic degree for that...

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

WOW. Good job to the people running the study putting athletes and businessmen in one group and fat doods in the other. They probably just wanted some sort of (+) result for their test so they can get attention. So lame.

At least I can keep being happy without women hating me.

[–]Blatant-Ballsack14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is fucking retarded. It pisses me off to think someone got paid to do this.

"Ok now tell us which one of these you prefer, the Mexican farmer, or the body builder" "....body builder?" "Pride it is! Where would science be without us?"

[–]heist_of_saint_graft11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Uh yeah, and the "shame" guys could easily be seen to be pensive, reflective, etc.

Only the "happy" and "neutral" photo sets included puffy, pasty dudes.

It's a joke that adults approved, funded, and conducted this.

[–]Offensive_Brute6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

this is what happens when education is dumbed down so that inferiors can be competative in academics.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Competitive. Evidently they dumbed it down for you too.

[–]Offensive_Brute4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jokes on you faggot. I don't have a college education. Nyuknyuknyunyuknyuk.

[–]Ironhigh11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What the fuck.

Male pride = Muscular, well dressed, apparently successful in life/filthy rich

Male Happiness = Ugly unnecessary smiles

I'm 100% sure that they got those pictures on google. A study like this needs to be made in form of videos, not pictures.Make an actor play the different emotions all by himself and ask the women which mood arouses them the most WITHOUT CHANGING HIS APPEARANCE.

There are professional chemists struggling to get a job while at the same time some areas of "research" pay you for pulling shit out of your ass.Shameful.

[–]bigyellowtwinki12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If this is real I hope no one paid for this study.

[–][deleted] 4 points4 points4 points 12 years ago | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And we probably don't even have the right to access the writeup without paying...

[–]boneyendoplasm7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm actually a PhD student in psychology. This is not a good study. The photos should have been of men and women matched on different traits including physical attractiveness, body type and shape, and perceived success (like in a career). There are definitely good studies out there in psychology. The issue is some researchers either aren't aware of the research that shows other characteristics are important in determining attractiveness, or they don't believe it. Self-reported attractiveness and stated behavioral intent is also a problem, especially for women. There is some research out there showing that women will say one thing and do another when it comes to sexual marketplace types of behavior. I am by no means an expert in this area though, as my field is memory research.

[–]JohnPeel2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's atrocious science, they absolutely should have and could have used the same people, just had them change their expressions.

I've got slapped in the first year of my engineering degree for far less serious flaws in my methodology, and this study actually got published?!?

[–]redpilldude3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Many studies in the social "sciences" are poorly designed. You have to read social sciences papers very carefully in order to determine if their results are valid.

[–]Hughtub4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So "shame" is looking down so you can't see their face? These photos are dumb.

[–]Remerez4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

all of the happy and neutral are mostly shoulder up shots. pride is mostly full body or people in action. complete BS study

[–]throwawaygonnathrow4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Embarrassing. Time to throw that study out. Good job on finding this.

[–]1 Endorsed Contributormordanus1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The happy guys are freaks too. Nice study.

[–]Mengs871 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The "prideful" pictures of typical alpha poses - they take up physical space, good posture, raised chin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCYVCI9NGUU;t=26m

The "happy" pictures are just generic smiles.

OP you're right

[–]Herb-Eversmells1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ha. Thanks for posting this. I was feeling like an asshole for being happy last night. Guess I can keep smiling.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Porque no "brooding" :(

[–]ihavespellingproblem0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, based on those pictures I like prideful guys too. Happy and neutral guys look like dorks and creeps. I wouldn't like to be around those people.

[–]steadymotion0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The study is valid. You can clearly see the pictures of the men that are considered "prideful" for the purpose of the study. The study labels these men as prideful, and correctly reports that women liked them. The study makes no false claim. The women truly did like the men in the "prideful" category.

:)

[–]latencyisbadmkay0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Prideful is a code word used by very conservative christian types. Boastful is another. These are words people in mainstream society just don't use during the average day. Spiteful, wicked, blessed, abomination, and sinner are some others. Anyone using these terms should be understood to have been indoctrinated into a strict and "godly" lifestyle. All their views are primarily informed by this lifestyle, so their works must be understood in the same way. That is, uninformed and therefore flawed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This was my university, lol

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

who cares what they like.

[–]Ironhigh0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not caring about what they like is what they like, how can we tell if you truly don't care or not?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm just some dude on the internet, maybe you can't tell.
