Taking the false rape allegation trend to a new level: Feminist receives rape threat online; stages large protest of rape culture; police trace the ip address of sexual threat to the feminist's own laptop.

I routinely walk girls to the bus stop, kiss them goodbye, and slowly taper off contact as an integral part of my anti rape strategy

[–]ImBloodyAnnoyed 26 points26 points26 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Better:

  • go to a place for breakfast.

  • make sure it has CCTV

  • make sure you know the staff

  • get some PDA

  • pay with card to leave a paper trail

You're a lawyer if I ever saw one. My father is a lawyer. You all think alike. I got a 155 LSAT score... Not amazing but I think I'll apply anyway.

[–]annul 3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

your father is a lawyer and he isn't severely pushing you out of the profession? he must be a hiring partner somewhere with nepotism on the mind

[–]TRP Vanguardlegendofpasta 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He is very much discouraging me from entering...

But ya know...

He also said he'd hire me when I graduate

[–]fuckingdanzig 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not with a 155 you shouldn't. If you can't score at least 160 to get in somewhere decent, do not go.

[–]TRP Vanguardlegendofpasta -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't really study for it, and I have. 4.0 gpa from my undergrad... Weaker LSAT but strong gpa. I'm sure I could get in somewhere... It's the three/four years and te debt that are the big deterrents

I can't believe someone wrote an article about this. The manosphere is just me rediscovering myself.

It feels really weird. All this work into becoming better with women, and I can’t trust any of them. I know that at any point, I am subject to their whims. My freedom and livelihood depends on how they feel that day.

It feels really weird. All this work into becoming better with women, and I can’t trust any of them. I know that at any point, I am subject to their whims. My freedom and livelihood depends on how they feel that day.

The terrible part about this is that almost no women get this and will imply that a man's word is always taken over a woman's word when the law gets involved and the women who prey on men would never admit it because it would be like a magician explaining their tricks.

[–]gnimsh 8 points9 points10 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The only comment on that blog says the guy is so much happier after moving to Asia because women there are much fitter there and not contaminated by feminism like American women.

I have to say that while this is definitely true of the very attractive Korean girl I dated, she was also so much like a child that I just couldn't stand it. Can't cook for herself, doesn't understand why I have to work every day and can't take time off to spend a whole week with her. Lived with her parents so never paid rent, and now it's paid by the airline she works for.

It's hard to take someone seriously who has almost 0 responsibility and hits on men by telling them she can't cook and saying she's hungry.

[–]thebizzle 7 points8 points9 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So people don't want to be taken seriously, at least you can say she was upfront with you about being incapable for caring for herself.

[–]Modredpillschool 30 points31 points32 points 13 years ago (43 children) | Copy Link

It truly says something about rape culture when the key to avoid "raping" somebody is to make sure they remain happy after sex.

[–]Tropicalfirestorm 28 points29 points30 points 13 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

uh. Not sure how the guy who kidnapped my mom, sodomized her, choked her and left her for dead could have made the experience "happier" for her afterwards. He did, after all, think he had killed her. I think the key to avoid raping someone would be to stop if they say they want you to stop.

[+]Modredpillschool -20 points-19 points-18 points 13 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

You should tell your girlfriends to stop falsely accusing and what I said won't have to be true.

[–]Tropicalfirestorm 16 points17 points18 points 13 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Your response makes no sense to me. So I'm just going to leave.

[+]ManualSearch -6 points-5 points-4 points 13 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm not agreeing with either party here, but isn't "I don't understand what you said, so I'm going to walk away" a really poor way of having a conversation?

[–]Tropicalfirestorm 13 points14 points15 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It didn't make sense in that it didn't address what I wrote at all. He basically ignored everything I said. So it wasn't really a conversation.

[–]ManualSearch -4 points-4 points-4 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I think that's because he was trying to make a point that was different than the point you were trying to make.

He was trying to suggest that there are a lot of women out there who accuse people of rape after instances of consensual sex that they later regret.

You then suggested that there are real rapists that rape people and don't try to make the experience 'happy' afterwards, which is true, but wasn't what he was originally trying to state.

He then suggested that women should stop accusing of rape for anything else than non-consensual acts of sex (however by making it personal by accusing you personally of doing it or your friends personally of doing it, which isn't right or fair) because it makes legitimate cases of rape harder to signify or deal with.

Now, that point doesn't really argue your point, but to be fair, your point didn't really argue his original one either. You guys are basically having two different arguments, it seems.

[–]Tropicalfirestorm 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah I realized that. Probably should have mentioned that instead of just saying I was leaving. but... bleh. Sorry for wasting your time. I'm sick and I think I've got a bit of a fever, so my thinkings a little slow today :<

[–]ManualSearch 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not a big deal. If I didn't want to waste time I wouldn't be on Reddit.

[+][deleted] -23 points-22 points-21 points 13 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

But Feminazis always talk about how their ex "raped them" because they had sex and then broke up with them, sometimes getting them sent to jail.

[–]Tropicalfirestorm 16 points17 points18 points 13 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Can you give me statistics on this? how many men have been to jail for "raping" a woman they were once in a relationship with? I sincerely doubt there are tons of examples of this.

Give me two weeks to get back with you. I'm at the end of my medical assistant program and going to be starting my externship soon, so I'm going to be mostly studying all the time. I want to look at scholarly journals to make sure this isn't a biased report, as the way he words some things bothers me. If it matches other information I'll apologize. Either that, or I'll get distracted trying to find a place to have an externship and forget about it. I do want to research this. As a woman, it's kinda my duty, if this really is common, to see it stopped.

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 13 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Wow, an actual sane feminist. Have a good day.

[–]Tropicalfirestorm -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Apparently I'm not a feminist anymore -_- since apparently it doesn't mean working towards the equality of the sexes, but it means working SOLELY towards women's goals. Which makes no sense whatsoever since I thought our goals were equality but asdflaskdjf. People annoy me.... (sorry, got another response due this topic, and a little ticked off)

[–]aTeaPartyofOne1 points 13 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

You finally understand! This is good, without feminism you can help us move to true equality, as opposed to inequality in the other direction :)

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics -2 points-1 points0 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well Brian Banks is the latest high profile one.

Also, how many innocent men would have to have their lives ruined before we're allowed to care?

A ballpark number would suffice.

90% of rape accusations are false (Stewart, 1981).

It's a peer-reviewed and published study. Its methodology was verified and found to be valid, which is how it got published. It's true.

You're a misandrist, so you don't have any say on this topic, anyway. You should just shut up.

[+]redditalias7 -6 points-5 points-4 points 13 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

I agree entirely about this statement regarding the current zeitgeist in America. However, I am confused about the meaning of "rape culture". I thought the term is used in a way generally derogatory towards men. In other words the idea that men are violent creatures that are prone to rape so women must safegaurd against this in our dangerous "rape culture".

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points33 points 13 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Rape culture is the tendencies of people to rationalize or downplay rape, and a generally lack of sensitivity to the victim.

For example, Gina gets drunk and a man takes advantage. Gina reports the rape and is lambasted as reporting a "false claim." People don't realize that a person can't consent to sex when they're inebriated. Furthermore, they say that she shouldn't have gotten drunk or gone to a bar alone, implying that she caused the event while disregarding her right to be where she was. This reactionary attitude is an element of rape culture.

Notice how people want to talk about false claims of rape every time rape is brought up? Sure false reports happen, but there's no evidence to show that false claims are a major issue. Such cynicism to reports of rape implies a lack of concern for rape victims. This thinking is often labeled as "rape culture."

[+][deleted] -9 points-8 points-7 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she can't consent to sex when drunk, therefore freeing her from guilt, then a man should also be free from guilt if he is drunk, right?

Face it, feminists are the ultimate hypocrites.

I'm a man, I've been raped, and rape culture isn't real

[–]RedSunBlue -3 points-2 points-1 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Furthermore, they say that he shouldn't have gotten drunk or gone to a bar alone, implying that he caused the event while disregarding his right to be where he was. [–]HyliaSymphonic 21 points22 points23 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm pretty sure rape culture means when a woman gets raped by someone she knows, and has the bravery to come forward. She is told by a bunch of men that she was not raped, she just wasn't happy with the sex, that whenever a woman accuses someone had the slightest chance of consensual sex with her she could not have been raped. All this denying the reality that one in six women will experience attempted rape or successful rape, and that nearly 75% will know their rapist and 28% of the time it is an "intimate.'

[+]Endorsed ContributorSarcasticus -8 points-7 points-6 points 13 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

The meaning of 'rape culture' is whatever feminists want it to mean at the moment.

Make a joke about dongles? Rape culture.

Make a false rape accusation and therefore make it harder for women to be taken seriously concerning rape accusations? Not rape culture because feminists did it.

Get it now?

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think I've heard of many feminists that are OK with false reports of rape. People react with negativity because the issue is overblown. False reports happen, but there's no evidence they happen at a higher rate than any other crime report.

[+]Endorsed ContributorSarcasticus -9 points-8 points-7 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps, but feminists sure underestimate the number of false rape reports link

[+]redditalias7 -6 points-5 points-4 points 13 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I think so. I just feel the phrase can kind of be looked at in two lights. A feminist and a men's right's perspective.

rape culture from feminist perspective: Women are gentle delicate flowers that need to be hyper aware of brutal violent men that are always out looking for a victim to rape. From this perspective "rape culture" is a staunch warning to women about how to live.

rape culture from men's right perspective: A man's awareness that feminist have used the tragic crime of rape as a means to increase power over men by wielding unfounded rape accusations against any man they wish to harm. From this perspective "rape culture" is a staunch warning for men to be careful how they live.

Obviously I'd subscribe to the second perspective, but I'm not clear what society's definition of rape culture is. Which one is the generally accepted societal view. I'm guessing the first and that this is feminist terminology.

[–]HyliaSymphonic 10 points11 points12 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't think actually know what rape culture is from any perspective other than your own.

[–]redditalias7 -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]HyliaSymphonic 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[+]thebizzle -7 points-6 points-5 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you are of the second persuasion you are in the minority. Be careful of what you say in public and mixed company, your words may be used against you in the court of public opinion.

[–]RedSunBlue 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Say something feminists don't agree with? That's rapey and it supports rape culture.

It's quickly becoming a means for shaming men who do not kowtow to feminists.

[–]TRP VanguardVZPurp 6 points7 points8 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, when anything can apparently be construed as rape, even regret, you make damned sure to cover your ass as best as possible.

[–]KaywinnettLeeFrye 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Female here. I agree. If you don't want sex, say no. If he goes on anyway, it's rape. If you've consented without violence or the threat of violence on his part, it isn't. It's really that simple.

Though it is impossible to apply my own opinions to those of all other women, I find it extremely hard to believe that most women would actually view this situation or the one on Girls as rape. Most women I have had occasion to talk about such things with don't like women who cry rape whenever sex doesn't happen just the way they want it any more than you do, because it gives us a bad name and robs those who truly are victims of rape of their legitimacy in today's society. I think (and really, really hope) that the view espoused in the article about Girls is a minority one.
