I currently live in a property my parents bought for my sister and I to live in while we attended college. Its just a small townhouse, nothing special at all (its not something someone would call a nice property) but I like it, its basic and doesn't require a lot of maintenance. After I graduated and got work I stayed living here, I could have afforded something significantly more expensive but it had a nice locking garage for my bikes and I really dislike high maintenance flash homes. Recently I approached my parents about buying the property off them, I had managed to save a significant portion of it as a deposit and wanted to pay them repayments instead of rent for the rest as I was paying rent on the property already.

My mother basically sat down and said to me that my sister and I would inherit the property when they died anyway and I was free to live there as long as I liked, so there was no point in buying it from them. But she added something to it that I found interesting coming from a woman "And I don't want your girlfriend thinking she has a claim to it, if we keep it in our name it is safe from that".

It just kind of made me realize, women know what women are like. They're aware of their own actions.
