Corny title but succinct.

I've been working on cutting out bad habits and things are going fairly well so far. I can't help but notice that keeping these habits around for so long has made it difficult for me to adapt to less intense activity. It looks important to be able to abstain from the pleasure chemicals long enough to do good work that requires a boring slog, keep up with long term reward hobbies, etc.

Anyone have any thoughts on the brain chemistry end? I'm wondering if there's a way to modify the approach to behavior pattern change. I checked out power of habit that talked about this subject a bit. Probably people that used to binge watch TV, overplay videogames, overeat would have something to say here. I've beat those habits so far but I can't help but notice how living a high dopamine life has impaired my ability to get used to something different.
