What’s making relationships harder? (In your opinion)

Promiscuity and the assumption that everyone is doing it have always been a societal issue, but I do think it's more widespread today, which makes relationships harder when you're dating and certainly in high school. I remember my friends shaming me for being inexperienced, but if I said one word about their legion of men, I was a jerk. I was 27, so I can only imagine how much more pervasive it is at 17. That's all the more reason I advise teens to wait until they're out of high school to have sex.

Marriage, though? The ubiquity of Internet porn and the ease of intentional and accidental affairs are certainly a factor but honestly, I think it's simple martyrdom. Social media gives the biggest ribbon to whomever has it hardest, be it SAHMs, working moms, childfree by choice, singles... they're all competing to see who can complain the most.

I met my husband on the internet. For me access to it was like a blessing. Having growing up in extremely remote area I was only exposed to very limited number of men - which most of them I knew since I was 5 and all felt like brothers to me. If it weren’t for social media I wouldn’t be able to learn foreign languages fluently and meet my soul mate. For us having internet connection was absolutely crucial, since we had long distance relationship (two different continents) and could only communicate through Skype or other messengers. All of this could never happen without latest technology.

I do not think internet makes dating harder - I think it is the opposite. I think what makes relationships harder is that people can not use these tools for the good and control themselves with internet. With reason and responsibility internet is a blessing. However if you are prone to addictions and are quite mindless it can influence your life or relationships in a very very negative ways.

Also I think the ability of communication isn’t really a product of using or not using internet. I never had problems with communication even though I am a very active user of internet.

social media is a wasteland. ditch as much of it as you can, be wary of people who are too deep in it. it's a romance-killer.

It can be easier for people who know how to adapt and develop new strategies (different from what worked for previous generations) and for those who know how to use the current culture to their advantage (and this is what RP is about).

In a world where most women are harpies, you stand out merely by virtue of being sane and showing you're capable of empathy. I'm not even talking about being sweet and docile, because in the long term, men value accountability and loyalty much more than playing any "traditional" gender roles (being a "trad thot" to be "not like other girls" is getting more popular in the past few years, especially with the influence of female YouTubers that use "traditional values" as their only selling point).

Now you are 17, and dating and girls and boys is drama until early 20s either way. Maybe it's worse now but it was not great 15 years ago either. For people in early 20s and older, if you are looking for a solid and monogamous relationship with the intention of getting married and having kids, I honestly think it's harder for men than it is for women these days...

In my experience the traditional dream of having a traditional family is the dream of more men than women, and the men with that dream have a hard time finding a woman that fits this image. So if you're a redpill woman with your ducks in a row then you're in good shape.

I'm talking from an educated city-perspective kind of crowd here, as I've lived in multiple medium and big cities. I don't have insight into more rural areas where I'm guessing dating is a bit different.

I think the internet definitely makes the long-term relationship game way harder for women than it used to be.

Hookups are a given now and men have come to expect them. If men can hookup with a bunch of women constantly, wouldn't it be quite a bit harder to actually get one in a relationship.

I don't know why but I've also found that women tend to date down on the attractiveness scale, like a really hot woman will often be with a "meh" dude. My theory is that it has to do with the reassurance that their man will never cheat on them, since cheating on an SO is literally easier than even right now.

Having been in a relationship since I was 17 (I'm 22 now) there's some things I've learned that defs making having a young relationship harder. 1) all your friends are single and having fun on tinder. Or at least, it seems like it's fun. If you peel back the layers it's really not that good of a time, but they want you to think they're having the time of their lives on tinder. 2) there is a near constant feeling of "what if" and "is this the best option". Tinder and apps alike have opened up a world where there is a constant stream of options available to both men and women, when there are too many options we are constantly left to wonder if the one we have chose is really the best option.

I've come to be very very grateful for my boyfriend in the past year, mostly because a single woman's life right now is just not something I feel like doing. It also make my relationship incredibly special and unique having been together in such a trying time. I'm very proud of the both of us for trusting our guts and sticking it out, but let me tell you it's been tempting not to do that.

Internet culture glorifies unhealthy relationships, as in neither party is committed to the relationship but is just more focused on using their partner for social boosts. All the healthy couples I know make no mention of it, many of them coming from asian families that heavily restrict their social media and activities. So instead of finding a partner for the sake of it they meet their partners through mutual interests. Definitely the better way of dating
