I was just thinking something similar yesterday! I was talking to my boyfriend about how I notice sex differences in animals personalities, and I wonder how much of it is me projecting it onto them.

I work with animals a lot, especially horses, and I most definitely see it. Geldings tend to be sillier and goofier, while mares are more serious. They all do dumb shit, of course, but I've noticed geldings are the ones who are doing the most ridiculous dumb stuff.

And I can tell the sex differences in horses pretty well by sight, it's almost more a look in their eye and their demeanor that gives it away than any physiological differences.

It's a lot easier with (stray) cats. You can guess with muscular and fat levels, but it's a bit difficult when there are lot of hair.

There's also some facial dimorphism that are very similar to humans, however dogs are really fucked up as a specie...

both dogs and cats have facial ratio and bone structure differences by sex, just like most higher mammals. as humans we arent as attuned to them and usually have to be taught to really see them
