Q4Women: Do you consider shaving and exercise when making judgments regarding a man's SMV?

Or do you gauge a man's handsomeness based on the natural state of not shaving, trimming, cutting one's hair or spending any time in the gym?

SMV is ultimately an average rating. Personally if a woman uses X amount of makeup everyday, I will judge her attractiveness based on having X amount of makeup—if I have to reduce it down to one number. Being attractive does require constant upkeep.

Yes, I do, rather obsessively actually. My longest LTR was with a girl who almost never wore any makeup, like at all. She just did it for special occasions and job interviews.

I am a frequent lurker of r/gonenatural. My personal 10 is probably more like everyone elses 7, and with little to no makeup. If it looks like she's wearing makeup I'm almost certainly kind of turned off.

I don't really participate in SMV rankings, so I'm not terribly interested in the "numbers".

But, to me it's all in the intention. Ignoring the fact that massive amounts of makeup makes me feel like I'm holding hands with a living doll, if a woman chooses to wear makeup, then I want her to be proud of...well, her pride in asserting a feminine appearance. I want to get the sense from her that she is doing it to share her femininity with me, an offering freely given. I don't want to feel like she's doing it because she's terrified of what she looks like without it, or that it's expected of her.

This will, in turn, make it so that when she washes the makeup off, that aura of self-confidence and assertion remains.

Other men will have to comment but I never go for chicks who "cake it on". In that way, it has never been a problem for me.

Yup. Very consciously nowadays and I think lesser of them. Conversely I think better of women without makeup. More likely to have a cool personality and less likely to superficial.

Note: This was not true in my teens.

Nope. I go one step further, I picture my hypothetical date without make up. Ridiculously applied foundation is a dead giveaway. I've found that women who are into fitness and healthy eating tend to have great skin without putting in a lot of effort with skin care products.

Lots of cosmetics and shiny thingys are great for girls when you're looking for the Essex girl type. Which is strictly sex of course. More ltr material would have to be seen in a more natural setting too. Also have to know about any cosmetic operations. Have kids to consider.

I'm personally not a fan of make-up because it can have an ego-inflating effect on some women that would otherwise be more down-to-earth about their own value. The way they look in make-up can be pleasing at first but it makes me question what they look like with it off and further WHY they feel the need to wear it to begin with. If TRP wanted to be as objective as possible with judging female SMV, they would consider only the woman's body completely naked and without cosmetics on. Make-up can be applied to any face so a more fair determination of a specific female's value should not include the make-up.

I tend not to put much stock in SMV; ceteris paribus I'd choose the more attractive person if I had to choose, but when you're open about what you're looking for you tend to find partners that don't mind you seeing others. So it's not a concern within my lifestyle.

In relation to makeup overall; unless she looks like another person without it, I don't mind either way. I don't tend to go out with my partners after the initial meeting, so I typically only see them in the afternoon/evening at home where makeup is unnecessary. Not to mention that it's going to melt off during the horizontal tango in 96.8 degree weather.

So long as they're wearing it for themselves and have a little self confidence I don't see any issue. I wear makeup myself, so I may be bias.
