Yes, it's part of mating strategy. It's also because women understand that one of their main values is as a sex partner. Sexual desirability, and access to a woman's body for sex, are the most valuable assets a woman has. She devalues those assets through promiscuity, or by offering her body cheaply and without demanding something in return for it, i.e., commitment.

This is also why the Beta bux/beta cucks mating strategy is used. Women expect to "get something" in return for offering up sex. When it's Alpha Fux, she gets validation, bragging rights, affirmation of her value as a woman, and a shot at commitment (which she almost always fails at). With Beta Bux, she doesn't get hot alpha sex or bragging rights. But she does get commitment, an income stream, and a father figure for her kids -- all of which can be (and often are) discarded the moment they cease being of any use or value to her (hence women divorcing and mistreating beta men all over the place).

That's why women conceal promiscuity -- because they know that access to their bodies is the most valuable thing they have to offer, and because they want to preserve their value for as long as they can (or keep others from assessing its true value).

There are many incentives women have for hiding casual sexual behavior or promiscuity:

Fear of slut-shamming from other women, or losing female friends based on being promiscuous.
Concerns over a specific high value male thinking they are too easy or low-value (girls want to feel like they are special).
Fear of guys they are NOT attracted to suddenly acting or pushing them for sex. This is hoenstly a big one, because of the massive rape paranoria culture we are in women think if they behave the least bit slutty a massive stampede of men will kidnap them and rape them.

When I was single, I found men were more likely respect my boundaries when I said (truthfully in my case) that I was a virgin. All the sudden, they got why I was saying no to sex. All the sudden just kissing was enough. So it might be a way to combat the "YOU DID IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE, WHY NOT ME?!" entitlement nonsense?

I'm wondering how they can do it so easily. Especially if a partner asks directly about the past and shows directly that he doesn't appreciate lying.. And probably even mentions that would rather know then live his entire life being lied to (which is pretty disrespectful). How and why would those women lie every day instead of saying the truth. I mean, they also must understand that their men probably wouldn't love them if they knew - so they love another woman, the one that's not promiscuous, but they don't know this is not that woman :)

Don't women want to be loved for who they are? Or do they really use relationships just to extract benefits and don't care that they disrespect their men every day by lying and those men love the image of them that they created?

People have already presented both the moralist and feminist angles, that is primarily 'fear of slut-shaming/judgment by men'. We should add the evolutionary one where studies have shown that high promiscuity mitigates capacity to pair-bond through oxytocin deficit, i.e. higher inclination of polygamy and polygyny, i.e. higher risk of infidelity. Whether this is epigenetic and therefore malleable or a fixed genetic mutation, I do not yet know; experts will be able to inform you here. It seems to be related to the impulsivity correlated with presence of an active DRD4 gene., however.

Just wanted to address your bit about "or even initiate the sex". I've got a low partner count. But if I was really into someone who I was dating, I would have zero problem initiating sex. Just because a woman is proactive doesn't make her promiscuous. I initiated my very first sexual experience, with a partner I'd been dating a year, in college. The idea that a woman initiating is necessarily slutty is what forces guys into being the ones who approach.

It's more a response to shaming and the way society tends to look at promiscuity in women. If society weren't so puritanical when it comes to the subject, women would likely be more free with their past. Why talk about it if people will shame you for it?

Of course, everyone has something like this because no one is completely honest about every dark wrinkle in their life. I'd be skeptical of anyone who says they don't. We all have something we don't talk about and we wouldn't tell a prospective mate, without prompting.

Just take a look at TRP if you want your answer, lots of guys calling women sluts and whores and shaming them for having sex with more than one person. Of course women are going to want to keep their sexual histories on the DL when they know they can be shamed and attacked for it, it's not a mating strategy it's a survival strategy.

because they are shamed BY OTHER WOMEN. Most of women's bullshit strategies do not exist to combat male "insecurity," this is just an excuse. Men love to fuck sluts, we just don't want to commit to them.

These strategies exist entirely to deal with OTHER WOMEN, who are part of the pussy cartel. This is why women hate prostitutes and shame promiscuous women as "sluts": they are undercutting the market.
