This friend is most likely on the rope for raising some other guy's child. He's the beta bux. The OP is an asshole of course. (Edit: Not a real friend at all). However, the striking thing to me is the huge betrayal that this is by the wife to the man. It never ceases to amaze me what some women will do.

Note: The OP doesn't explain for sure if the husband knew about it or not. It's entirely possible the husband gave his approval. However, given that the OP knew the friend for like 20 years, I doubt he could easily hide that much of an open relationship from him. If he does know and is okay with that, he's about as beta (perhaps omega) as you can get. Either way, society's fucked up
