I've noticed some talk lately, especially on TBP about how to deal with arguing with people or going about changing people's opinions if you believe they're toxic. There's also been a bit of talk around here that it's just counter circlejerking and not many of the users have any interest in actually discussing or debating...

I also recently saw a study on how people form opinions and the most effective ways to change them, and it actually suggested shitting on each other from across an internet forum (extrapolation, lol) triggers a fight/flight reflex and forces the other person to view you and those with your opinions as dangerous assholes that one needs to attack or defend against. It also suggested the most effective way of changing someone's opinion was to have them explain, in detail, why they're right and their intellectual opponents are wrong, and poke holes empathetically instead. This was demonstrated using political issues with strong liberal/conservative opinions such as the XL pipeline, but blah blah blah, anyways...

My question to everyone here: What is an opinion, belief, or general ideology of "the other side" you'd be willing to be convinced of, or alternately, what is a belief of your side that you are willing to concede is untrue?

For myself, recently I have been on the fence as to whether TRP is really required in order to address what TRP is attempting to address in male culture or not. I understand why TRP exists, and I see it as inevitable (in fact, I think TRP'ers and men's reaction in general to the current SMP and the way women treat them is obnoxiously tame) but I'm no longer sure if TRP is actually needed. There is some legitimacy to BP claims that's it's basically nothing but a hate cult.
