The title should give the boys and girls here enough material to argue debate over.

But if that wasn't enough, here is a little something I'm working on. I'm sure everyone will find enough here to agree / disagree with.

Political correctness is the logical consequence of releasing "feels vs reals" into the political wilderness and nourishing it via traditional and social media.

There was a time, before the advent of the PC movement, where ideas could be discussed in blunt, realistic, and often harsh terms. Ideas were judged on their merits, not on the feelings they elicited. The two were understood to be separate entities.

Nowadays, we can see that political correctness inflicts a mental paralysis in the marketplace of ideas. The benefits flowing from of a new idea must be carefully weighed against the risk that idea presents of offending certain protected groups. Effective Ideas are often thrown out for no reason other than their potential to offend the wrong group. Who are these groups? What makes them different from the non-protected groups?

Women, minorities, and muslims represent the bulk of the protected group. Rich men, white men, christians, and jews are in the unprotected class and garner little or no public support for offenses against them. Public figures, famous persons, and policy makers don’t spend time and energy worrying about offending the unprotected classes.

The birth of the PC movement came with the assignment of the roles of victim and perpetrator. The protected groups see themselves as victims of the non-protected groups. The status of victimhood has and continues to serve them well. The protected groups use victimhood as a shield to deflect criticism and the acceptance of responsibility for their place in the world. It remains much easier to sit idle and blame everyone else for your lack of progress.
