Depends if I own the company, whether I care for the workers, and whether I like the company culture.

I think of a lot of people here would agree that culture matters.... a harmonious association of strangers can be completely wrecked with just one uncooperative nut. And when it does happen, not only does productivity suffer, but so does morale. Work becomes a pain to go to, when you have an unhappy customer.

I think men work better together without a woman, and women tend to work better without the men. This is something I observed from watching my parents in a Truck repair shop and a Cherry processing plant. The plant is segregated with the females processing inside and the men picking outside, this separation ensures the female harassment is kept to a minimum and the men can let their wives work knowing they won't be a target of advances. The truck shop, well that was a really fun place to hang out, but I doubt any woman would take to kindly to the girl pinups there, or the zestier brand of humor.

Could a woman be part of the company culture? Sure, but the risk of a sexual harassment suit, the tension caused between the men, and the huge chance that she might not take to kindly to a more "male" space would make me choose against her unless she was significantly more qualified.

The thing to point out is that it's a completely indisputable reality that we are all racist. Countless experiments have been conducted and it's shown that we expect different things from different races. This rises above which race you are. Blacks, Mexicans, Asian and Caucasians are all racist.

So let me ask the OP his own question: Does being white influence your decision on who to employ? If you answered anything but yes, you're wrong.

Rationality doesn't come into it, more than likely. Assuming the candidates were equal in every aspect, except one was a woman of child bearing age? Yeah, the economically correct choice is to hire the man.

The thing that we should consider is this: Babies are a resource that society needs- possibly the most important resource. If we discourage women from having babies society will collapse in a generation. To me the real question would be, what incentive does the employer have to hire a woman of childbearing age, simultaneously encouraging women to continue producing resources (babies) that our society needs?

This is probably the more interesting question, whether you believe women should just take the hit or the government should provide some kind of offset. Just a thought.

They do, even if we think they don't. Similarly, TBP will have biases against men which affect their behaviour also.

I don't know you, and don't know if your views are less extreme than mine. Extreme just means deviating from the norm. How do you know you're normal? Do you know if most people "catch themselves" for internal judgments, like you do?

I do think my biases affect my treatment of women. For most of my life, I think I've been far more supportive, lenient, and kinder to women than men. This came from the sexist notion that women are generally more sensitive and fragile.

I take everything into account. My heuristics are not one-dimensional and not linear formulas. I wouldn't base my opinions solely on gender.

If she does become like that, oh well... Like father, like daughter.

Hypergamous? It's practical.

Manipulative? I wouldn't want any progeny of mine to be defenseless.

I would higher a man over a woman in 99% of situations given that the candidates have equal resumes. I don't want to deal with her gossip, maternity leave, and other faggotry.

I will not father a woman. I am almost entirely certain that by the time I am of the age where having children is a real possibility in my life that gender selection of children will be a scientifically viable option.

I do not believe this and would hire the woman over the man. Research has shown that group performance increases if more women are present, so based on this I would make my decision.

I judge jobless people and terrible parents the same.

But I can't lie.

I judge a jobless husband (as in not attempting to find a job and not helping out at home either) slightly more than the reverse of a woman.

And I judge a woman more (for being an absent mother) when the man has full custody. And I don't judge the man as much when the woman has full custody.

I do this all the time. I disadvantage all female applicants simply because I am asked about what people I want working for me. I don't make any final decisions on who gets hired, mind you. I am simply present in a panel during the interviews for short-listed people and I give my opinion on which ones I like. Sometimes I ask questions during the interview. I generally honestly try to but I still find myself not seeing many things to like in the female candidates.

I work in a field position at an unnamed state owned chem-engineering contracting company.

What about if you father a girl? Does the 'fact' that she is going to grow up to be hypergamous and manipulative make you love her less in comparison, to a son?

I do not buy that fact. I have a background in educating troubled children and I believe my influence as a parent can make a tremendous difference on their psychological well-being and on how well they make their choices.
