Maybe "traditional" men are hypogamous (as opposed to hypergamous) and seek women who can't compete with them in terms of intelligence or status? I know if frightened boys right off when I had higher test scores and grades at university; my husband wouldn't have attempted to chat me up if he wasn't a very self confident person.

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Was it your grades and test scores at university that attracted your husband? Would he need to be confident if your intellect is what attracted him? Why would you mention him being a confident person unless of course you agree that your intelligence would be intimidating if he wasn't confident.

[–]workerbeebuzz1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

We met at university, and I know what usually happens when you correct a man's stoichiometry.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Personally, I'd be glad if someone helped me with chemistry! Although I usually did ok with stoichiometry, it was those darned molecule shapes in ochem I had trouble with.

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are more aware than other women then :)

[–]drok007Not white enough to be blue pill7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Here's an article that I think explains it well enough:

http://theredpillroom.blogspot.com/2014/02/wife-test-intelligent-women-pick.html?m=1

I think more that TRP doesn't care about career smart. For career smarts, I've got that covered. I don't need another person like me. Especially if all it's going to do is hamper decision making. I need a woman who is a smart wife and mother as a partner.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So hamstering? Do you think you'll be unable to be a good father if you concentrate on career? And is there no nuance, just solely career-focused or solely motherhood-focused? Christ.

[–]jamieoneal82Red Pill Man12 points13 points14 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

You're clearly upset about something, but I think it's clouding your thinking. All drok007 said was that TRP doesn't care about a woman's career, and puts a higher relevance on a woman's intelligence as it relates to being a good wife and mother. No one is saying a woman needs to be solely motherhood-focused. Your frustration is palpable, but I would like to suggest that you step away from the computer for a second, maybe go for a walk, and come back to this with a fresh perspective.

Edit: nevermind, just looked through your comment history. Maybe a walk isn't enough. Maybe you're just an angry person.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being a good wife and mother hardly requires any intelligence.

[–]drok007Not white enough to be blue pill0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What would I want a hamster?

The roles of a father are different from the roles of a mother, so I don't see it being an issue.

Nuance isn't the issue. Either you put career as #1 or family as #1. They can't both be or there is no way to make decisions. If someone is that confused with their life that they try, it's probably worth it to reduce them to the rejection pile anyway.

[–]BorMatoRed Pill Man1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

I like smart women. Smart women are more likely to be less of a liability to my future children as well as themselves.

Women are attracted to intelligent and educated men because that gives them higher status. Women are attracted to status.

Men are not attracted to status but rather youthfulness, kindness and affection, things that would indicate to me that you will be a good mother.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Can y'all just admit that all men are not the same?

[–]BorMatoRed Pill Man3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are not all the same. Happy?

We are however not all unique from one another in terms of sexual desires. I think most guys would agree with my statements above.

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

So you're saying that you aren't attracted to a woman's looks and personality but rather her academic achievements? A sweet, kind, loving, affectionate and attractive woman isn't as appealing as an intelligent, successful career woman?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

A sweet, kind, loving, affectionate and attractive woman isn't as appealing as an intelligent, successful career woman?

Tautological question is tautological. Obviously an attractive woman is attractive, but we have different definitions of attractive. You gotta step up your game, because you're either too stupid to spin or you're even stupider and don't even realize you were spinning.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You almost got a point from me for your use of the 'tautological', but you failed with your vapid use of condescension and evasion.

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My sentiments exactly.

[–]workerbeebuzz0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How was it vapid?

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You didn't make a point or answer my question. Claiming I'm either stupid or stupider is condescending but not challenging. Try again.

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Tautological question is tautological

I actually smiled reading this. Probably because you used it twice when once would've been enough.

You gotta step up your game, because you're either too stupid to spin or you're even stupider and don't even realize you were spinning.

You lost me here. What game and what am I spinning?

[–]workerbeebuzz1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why can't she be both?

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Was this question meant for me?

I was asking the OP a question. I didn't make any claims at all.

[–]workerbeebuzz0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

More rhetorical. I don't get why it has to be either/or.

[–]GrandCzarOfRedPill1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the thing. TRP isn't advocating men hook up with dummies. Yet that seems to be what the OP is claiming.

It's a silly concept anyway. We're too diverse a group to want and think the same way. What I'd consider a "smart" woman could be an idiot to Bill Gates.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

IMO intelligence is a really really hard thing to assess. My high school's valedictorian was one of the ditziest people I've ever known. We worked fast food together and she could not figure out the most basic, common sense shit to save her life. Every day was like her first day on the job.

What good are her book smarts to me if she can't figure out how to turn on a blender without help? Or is regularly 50$ off on her register? Or can't figure out why she can't get the keys out of the ignition because the car is actually still running? Not saying a relationship would literally be like fast food management, but having to micromanage this kind of routine dumbfuckery would obviously get extremely old for anyone of any gender, lol.

Personally, I appreciate and respect intelligence when it is not coupled with arrogance and pretense (rare), but it does not make me attracted to girls in any way. Intelligence absolutely is a good trait in girls, but it is not an attractive trait.

[–]workerbeebuzz1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol, my father is like this. He's a brilliant academic, but would starve or burn the house down if he had to live on his own cooking, have his power cut off because he was too busy working on a theory to remember to pay the bill and if mum had have left him, he wouldn't have thought to feed us kids until we died and started to smell.

[–]jamieoneal82Red Pill Man3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

Who said men don't like smart women? In the past 6 months of reading TRP stuff I don't think I've ever seen any one suggest that.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (28 children) | Copy Link

Guys also don't care that much about your intelligence. They want someone who they can have a good conversation with, but not someone who is so smart that you make them feel stupid.

Fucking keep up, ok?

[–]hyperrrealLoves fun[M] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Fucking keep up, ok?

Hey we are glad you're participating here, but keep it civil.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

This is civil for a New Yorker.

[–]hyperrrealLoves fun[M] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Lol c'mon now...

It's totally fine to say you hate TRP and it's stupid. But you've got to avoid making it personal.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

How can it not be personal? Are these not real people talking shit about my sisters, my mother, my aunts, my cousins, my girlfriend, my female friends? Yes, TRP personally offends me. This is not some hypothetical discussion, this is not theoretical. I can be stoic as they come if this were a discussion about some silly academic theory, but these people are insulting and harassing real people, people who I like, and people who have done nothing (other than having a vagina) to deserve the disgusting way they're referred to.

I can be no less personal than abolitionists could be when debating slaveowners.

What a double standard you've set up here: TRPers are free to call all women whores, yet I can't call them assholes for it.

[–]hyperrrealLoves fun[M] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Everyday people comment here and remain objective. It's possible. And unless /u/gaylubeoil personally harassed someone you know, it is in fact hypothetical.

Even if I was to except your premise, there's an argument to made that riling up redpillers, as opposed to calmly educating them, will do more harm than good. This sub is about civil, reasonable discourse about ideas between people who fundamentally disagree.

If that's something you are unwilling or unable to handle, no big deal. But the rules will be enforced.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Then ban me, because I have no way of knowing if some TRPer harassed the women I know. They've been harassed in TRP fashion, and those harassers could indeed have been TRPers, or learned their bullshit from TRP.

And I really don't buy the idea that some TRPer is going to be convinced by rational argument. They've had all their lives to be decent human beings and chose otherwise.

[–]hyperrrealLoves fun[M] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

We don't ban people lightly here, but I'm sure that can be arranged if you so desire. I'm sorry to hear about the struggles women in your life have faced. But I think it's amazingly improbable bordering on impossible that the redpill subreddit had anything to do with that.

And I'm guessing you've never tried, but you are entitled to your belief. Like I said, you don't have to see the discourse in the sub as valuable, but you do have to be civil to other commenters. The same rules apply to everyone.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

"We teach men to harass women, but if a woman is harassed, we had nothing to so with it." Sure buddy. Sure.

[–]RedPill4LYFHeterosexual Red Pill Man3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

This bitch talks like red pillers would bother harassing women like we would want to give them that validation. Criticizing shitty female behavior on an Internet forum is hardly what I'd call harassment. You have no idea what you're talking about, OP.

That's also in RPW and not in TRP. Not everyone who reads TRP reads RPW.

[–]jamieoneal82Red Pill Man1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One post describing one woman's experience with online dating, complaining that all the men want is sex, and then rationalizing her lack of success with "it must be because I'm too smart", and you take that as if it's a universally accepted RP truth?

Also, read the top comment in that thread.

[–]niczarRed Pill Man4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm more interested in fucking a young, slim, big-boobed hair stylist than a saggy old fat Nobel laureate.

I'd be more interested in having a conversation with the latter, though. But I don't need to be fucking her to do so.

For a long term relationship ... well if the first gal is really dumb that would be a problem, but I'm definitely NOT going to go in a relationship with someone I'm not attracted to.

Bottom line, intelligence is nice, but it has little to do with attractiveness.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Bottom line, intelligence is nice, but it has little to do with attractiveness.

Try not to state this as an absolute. I'm utterly turned off by anyone who's not exceptionally intelligent. For me, intelligence is highly correlated with my attraction level, particularly over the long term.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You may find that intelligent people disagree.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most intelligent people are in relationships with people near their intelligence level.

[–]ReginleiferOnly Zombies want female brains2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I love smart women, but it's not even remotely close an influential decision on who I date.

I'm more attracted to submissiveness, kindness, and an affinity for children.

I can't put my dick in your college degree.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Technically, you can much more easily put your dick in a college degree than kindness.

[–]ReginleiferOnly Zombies want female brains0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm going to just come out and admit you got me. :/

I just wanted to stress that college degrees don't do it for me. It's great, but not a deal breaker.

reply deleted but here's my response

Yeah, I know. Don't really care. Plenty of good stuff is sold under the guise of comedy, satire or parody.

Lot's of guys don't put the emphasis on education...... it's a bonus, but I'm not getting a boner from your Master's in English. Women on the other hand seem to marry men with higher educations..... higher salaries, taller, etc.

http://therawness.com/why-you-cant-get-married-pt-1/

Jon LaJoie may have been joking, but luckily a statement's validity isn't dependent in the context it was used in, but on whether they are true or not.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I don't know. I've never met a women who ever taught me something valuable.

I've never met a women a women who was better at math than me, new more about the natural world or had better technical skills than me. Ironically the only thing a women has ever taught me is to cook and clean.

Do I like smart women? I'll let you know when I meet one.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No mother? No female teachers? Sure. Ha ha.

[–]workerbeebuzz3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My daughter had a classmate share this type of opinion with her. Apparently no girl could ever be as good at computers as him. She shut him out of the school server.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's a false dichotomy. Comparing children of different genders is not the same as comparing adults of different genders.

With that said, I have learned a few things from the women in my life, but what I learn from women is dwarfed by what I learn from men.

[–]workerbeebuzz0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is it different?

[–]wubooAlpha Blue Pill0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I probably know many who are.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This coming from a person who doesn't know the difference between "knew" and "new".

[–]Smilingbluekitties0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are lots of different kinds of "smart." Smart women are not all driven corporate career workhorses. The type of intelligence I have is compatible with my SO's- we love words and literature. He gets physically aroused when I get some of his obscure references. He's thrilled to be with a woman who doesn't fall asleep during a four hour documentary. I fully admit that I'm a bit of an idiot savant and technology confuses me. He's very patient with me on that, and he's secure enough to ask me about anything pertaining to classical music.

[–]CoffeePrince0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is quite the opposite. Men can't stand stupid women. The smartest women know how to seduce a man and make him feel like a million bucks. The smart ones know what buttons to press and when to press them. A smart women does this so well that the man truly believes he is the one doing the seducing. It is graceful and when done masterfully it is invisible.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Physical looks still supersede all when it comes to women but anyone who doesn't value intelligence at all in their partner is not intelligent themselves.

Maybe if you're just looking for plates... Mrs O'Neal (not my real last name, obviously) is maybe a 6.5-7 on the 10-scale, but she's damn smart, and relatively sane. As the saying goes, smart, sane or sexy, pick 2. For a wife, I'll go with smart and sane any day. My ONS/plates (we're open) are usually sexy and sane. Any longer-term GFs are usually sexy and smart.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

As the saying goes, smart, sane or sexy

No offense, but I think that's just a lame excuse. I want all three and I intend to get all three.

[–]jamieoneal82Red Pill Man0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You know what we say about generalizations... Smart, sexy girls get away with a lot more insanity. Unsexy, sane girls usually have to put more effort in to academics and developing mental skills. I'm not saying you can't find all three, it's just probably pretty rare.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Probably rarer here in the States than elsewhere.

[–]jamieoneal82Red Pill Man0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. But a lot of TRP is kind of geared toward "modern western women", especially in cultures strongly influenced by feminism.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I tend to think smarter women just don't like men.

Most, if not all, of my past gf's have been on the silly side, to put it forgivingly. I tend to assume "smart" women must either be impossible to get to know or too bitchy or something.

[–][deleted] 2 points2 points2 points 11 years ago | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, they don't seem to like me.

I guess I tend to think of my sister's friends or something. They all seemed to think they were pretty smart, but, statistics will be statistics and about all of them fell for jocks (alpha males?) and about all of them ended up getting divorced and blaming men for being fucked up and "difficult."

Meanwhile, I couldn't pay any of those women to have a cup of tea with me. I'm 41, single, no kids, not in debt, and not an ugly dude. Seems like only "silly" chicks who act like they've been hit soundly on the head with a frying pan are attracted to whatever I am or whatever I got to offer. Maybe in the relationship department the stereotypically "dumb" women are smart and the stereotypically "smart" women are stupid? I don't know.

I do remember bringing a gf to my sister's wedding and she said she noticed one of my sister's friends giving her the stink eye and being jealous. Which was a weird report - to me.
