Good question. I'm not sure if I'm sopilistic by nature or by nurture but sometimes I see it. And I know it happens when I don't realize it (only to later). Obviously I disagree with this behavior and try to overcome it by reminding myself to be open minded and put myself in anothers shoes. You honestly can't see something from another persons side if you don't agree with them in some shape or form.

I do get the desire from time to time to have a sex with (often dreamt up) bigger men. So I guess that's a symptom of hypergamy. Nevertheless I remind myself this is a sexual urge and that I should ignore it and not cheat or leave my amazing boyfriend. I try to appreciate him and our relationship so that if in the future I have doubts or want to leave him I will stay strong, work through it with him and remind myself of the good times we have and the love we have for each other.

What is wrong with hypergamy? It's a motivation for women to seek the best mate they possibly can. If a man doesn't maintain his stature, he is left behind.

The problem with marriage is that women go into the union fully believing that this is something that they want to do. Marriage has become a social obligation for women and man alike. A marriage used to benefit both parties, wherein a woman would secure the resources brought to the family by the man and a man would be able to start a family with the wife.

Modern day women work however, and they no longer need a man's financial resources. Marriages no longer benefit women. Women are capable of starting families without the need of a man because they can have children on their own and raise them with their financial resources.

There's a growing trend of more single people and divorces.

Guy here. I think all people are solipsitic, but the ways in which we're solipsistic differs by gender.

Likewise, hypergamy is no more important or serious than a husband who fantasizes about getting some strange.

The dictionary definition (that I saw first) of solipsism is "the view or theory that the self is all that can be known to exist", to be clear. Therefore, if it is interpreted as people being out for themselves, every individual is like that.
