Before I begin, I want to say that it is not gay for a man to acknowledge that another man is relatively good looking. It is gay to be attracted to that man though but this is not what this thread is about.

In my opinion, who you keep as company can have a major impact on your mindset and even other things in your life.

This not a hard set rule or anything but just a general observation I have made in my life about looks. There are exceptions.

Plus, most guys will not be on the extremes, there are very few guys there who are really good looking or just downright ugly.

A lot of the good looking guys I have been friends with were pleasant to be around in terms of just speak to them. Many of them brought out the best in people, usually uplifted other men, and made others feel good to be around them. Most of all, just their outlook on life was usually positive. Just their mindset and how they looked a things brought hope and encouragement onto others who were with them. Having some friends like this, I myself felt uplifted when talking to them and just having a conversation about anything related to life.

Now we have the ugly guys who are generally: overweight, shorter than average (though height alone does not make you ugly), and/or have a mix of unattractive facial features. Most of the times, these guys have a very confrontational personality. I always get the impression that they are looking for a fight or some kind of a confrontation. Most of the times they gossip about almost everyone else and will often put you down in social situations to raise their own self-esteem. A lot will make the lives of others miserable if they do not get what they want. As for just talking to them, it feels like being sucked into a cyclone of negativity as they continue to complain about the world, put others down, and have such an awful outlook on life.

Why should you care?

The book 48 laws of power says that you can die from the misery of others. I have noticed that after talking to guys in the latter category, my own mindset was poisoned and took a major hit. The outlook I had on life was miserable. Many times I ran into circumstances with guys in the latter category who did something crazy (picked a fight or harassed a girl) and I had to be the one to lookout for them. Plus there is the saying that you are an average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with.

I am not saying looks alone make a guy bad company to keep but I am starting to notice that overtime they do have somewhat of an impact.
