2) You're full of shit. You're not a long time lurker. How do I know? Literally the first thing in nearly every beginner's guide on MRP starts with "YOU MUST LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS, START TODAY OR GTFO"

3) You should be posting weekly in the OYS thread if you're actually serious about MRP, read the rules and follow the format or get banned.

First, decide you want to lift for you, not her. Otherwise, it's a covert contract and you are an even bigger faggot than when you started.

Second, decide that for the next 24 months minimum, you are going to KISS. Here's what KISS means for newbies to lifting. Pick a good starting program, such as Starting Strength or 5x5 or something like that and stick to it. Stick to it. Don't change it at all. Do the whole program and don't bullshit on the accessory work. Run through it for a minimum of 6 months before switching anything. If / when you do switch, you need to pick another starting / basic intermediate program like 531.

Third, eat a lot of protein. Aim for 1g of protein per lb of bodyweight. It is less important (right now) where it comes from than that you actually hit that number. Other than that, for now, just cut fast food and soda out completely. Congratulations, you now have better eating habits than 95% of the male population and you will likely cut fat / add muscle due to dem newbie magic gainz.

Fourth, turn into the lifts you hate and dominate them. Starting out, that's probably squats. Don't listen to the faggots who claim that leg press is just as effective. No, it's not. A significant part of the benefits come from overcoming obstacles and mental hurdles. You hate squats or want to puss out because of Generic Reason #634? Welcome to the club. You now have a goal to squat 4 plates ass to grass in 2 years. Get it.

Fifth, master the basics. This is going to be a part of the basic programs but make sure you don't lag in one of these movements. For example, if you can bench the house and squat a truck but can't do a single pullup, then you have a bad case of faggotry. The Strength Standards website has a list of the basics with what weights you should aim for according to your experience and body weight. If you aren't relatively competent in squat, OHP, bench, deadlift, do pullups, farmers walk, etc. by the end of your second year, you are fucking around. Stop it.

Sixth, ignore all the fitness bullshit. There are 9,000+ Youtube bros that peddle bullshit routines and bullshit supplements that don't matter for news guys like you. They aren't there to help you... they are there to make money. That shit, even if it is good stuff, doesn't matter to you. It's like suggesting a newbie buy 50 Pro V1 golf balls when he is going to lose 15 balls a round. Keep it simple. Eat protein (and don't drink soda / eat fast food), sleep 8+ hrs every night, and lift heavy 4-5x per week with quality accessory work.

Seventh, the only exception to the above is form videos. Wank off to these bad boys. Get on Rippetoe, EliteFTS, Duffin, Israetel, etc. and put that shit in your spank bank. Video yourself and be brutal. Not hitting parallel (or lower... pussy) on your squat? Fuck you. Rounded back on deadlifts? Fuck you. Flared elbows on bench? Fuck you. Fix it.

Eighth, sleep hygiene. Aim for 8 quality hours a night. Get a sleep mask. Get off screens 1+ hr before bed. Don't radically shift your sleep pattern on weekends vs weekdays. Your body is now a machine... fucking treat it right.

Ninth, recovery. Foam roll and stretch. Foam roll and stretch. Foam roll and stretch. Every day. Every day. Plus, this is a good excuse to find a hot masseuse in your area and book some appointments for yourself. You are welcome.

Tenth and finally, get your T checked. Today. I pissed around in my mid to late 20s oblivious to the fact that I had the T level of a 90-year-old man. I had zero libido / ED problems so the thought never crossed my mind but when I did get my T fixed, my strength jumped like crazy.

Stronglifts 5x5 is a great program for beginners. You'll probably get bored pretty quick but it teaches good form and focusses on squats, deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press and row. If nothing else, these lifts will build a decent base, get you confident being in the weights room and give you the mental boost of seeing the weights creep up.

There's loads of different programs for different results, using different tools and for different types of people. get to know your gym and take it from there.

The internet is awash with lifting advice. Just look up some beginner weights routines on YouTube and follow them for form. Don't overdo it to begin with, download a weight training tracker app and track your lifts, trying to progressively lift more as you go.

If you're overweight then look up some cutting diet plans that suit your lifestyle. If you're underweight then look up some bulking diets etc. Most will advise you to eat plenty of protein which is a must no matter whether cutting or bulking.

Just keep at it is the main thing, good luck!

Google is a good friend of yours. Dieting will be a huge factor if you’re serious about this. That’s something you should do your own research on to get an idea of what you should be eating and how much.

What I like to do as far as routines is go on Instagram and follow a few different athletes/body builders who routinely post their workouts and give tips here and there. It helps to inspire my workout that day and learn a little something new here and there.

Whatever you do. Make sure your intensity is high enough. Too many guys spending 1 hour + in the gym while only getting like 20 minutes of quality work.

Limit yourself to a 45 minute workout (excluding warmup) and lift intensely during that time. Pushups/pullups/dips are usually upper body compounds for beginners. Supplement with bicep curls and lateral raises. Lower body I suggest leg press, squat, hamstring curls, and weighted back extensions (aka ham glute raise).

As far as the actual sets go. Include drop sets and super sets going almost to muscle failure each time. This style of training IMO is best for body recomp (gaining muscle while losing fat).

go doctor. blood work. vitamins, minerals, hormones (T and estradiol), omega3/6 ratio, inflammatory markers. Fix any problems, preferably with diet. eat whole, natural foods, the kind that go bad quickly if not refrigerated ;) Mostly fish, meat, veg
as others suggested, StrongLifts is good, but you should add dips and chinups, as you don't get enough reps on your arms/shoulders

calculate your total daily energy expenditure. you need a surplus to gain muscles. about 200 calories per day
start easy. go do one set, one rep per exercise the first day so you don't hurt your muscles
if you get in a rut/demotivated, lower the weights and do one set/one rep again, just to get your brain back into the swing of things. consider Citrulline Malate (good for boners too!) and Beta Alanine for a little extra energy
if you follow StrongLifts to the letter, you should be adding 5 lb per lift per lift day. if you can't do that on the regular, you need more calories, protein
if you plateau, scale back 10%, and consider the following supplements: creatine, zinc, magnesium
you should be eating fatty fish every week, or taking 1g Omega 3s

tonight when I inevitably will get rejected I plan on getting up and saying I’m going to the gym (out of the norm for me since neither of us leave the house after the kids are in bed). This is an attempt to introduce dread and ultimately get my stomach down and muscles swollen
