Contrarian take but I find it offensive that 35-40 year old men are brought up like we're on a whole other planet, serious adults with maturity and stability who wouldn't possibly have anything in common with women in their early to mid 20s, don't know what memes are, would get annoyed with any modern pop culture or activities 20s people do on dates. Granted you should be over partying by this age and have more stuff going for you, but it's just a nice way of saying we're boring! What good is being (usually) experienced at sex and romance if you're no fun otherwise?

I'm not trying to be butthurt because when I read things like that it's often a compliment if young women are sick of immature dudes their age who won't commit or just don't treat them good or appreciate them, but that's more like 60 not 40. It's a tough standard to live up to so I don't want to disappoint women who are seeking that out. You can be more sophisticated and learn from your mistakes and be a role model without seeming like grandpa.

I wish a dude like Shaun King was the type guys my age were thought of like. He's like my brother from another mother. He's 40 and a popular BLM activist, passionately endorsed Bernie Sanders and brought a lot of attention to issues of police brutality and injustice. He's "older" in the good ways like having more wisdom and life experience and he's a married family man, but still seems young and is fighting for issues that especially affect the younger generations. He's a badass. He's a late Gen Xer with a Millennial heart much like myself. We grew up in the 80s and that's the only major difference.

My point is he's not the "set in his ways" silver fox daddy archetype that gets thrown at men in their 40s and god forbid even 30s online sometimes.
