Looking back, we all could have done things different. Regret is a useless emotion and no point in indulging. Also jealousy is a bad trait considering that you are still very young and it appears you are hoping those guys who appear to be having more fun for something bad to happen to them where they can't have any more fun which is sad.

Just focus on yourself, be happy in the small things, and get your shit together. Get your license, study hard, get into STEM or a field you can make a future out of, make $$$, and travel. And all of life is a ride, just enjoy it man. Travel man, get you out of your comfort zone and force you to go out and engage others.

I look at it this way: if you rescue an abused dog and bring it home, play with it, feed it and walk it, pretty soon that dog is going to be a generally happy dog. It doesn’t give a fuck where it came from, it appreciates that life is good right now. It doesn’t worry about the future (other than hiding the odd toy or morsel of food), because it knows that whatever happens, happens and it’ll deal with it when the time comes.

So if a dog can do that, then fuck it, I’m going to stop giving a fuck about past struggles and appreciate the now and worry about future bad stuff if it happens, but planning for it in the meantime.

I was a virgin until i was out of highschool. So what? My "highschool life" involved hanging out in a back corridor with friends playing hearts, president and euchre. And occasional pot smoking.

Nothing wrong with that. Life gets better in your twenties man, dont worry about "missing out" or you'll just keep on missing out.

My high school experience, as well as my college experience, was filled with embarrassment, tiredness from having to study so much, just a few friends, not really having a good idea of how to deal with what I was going through, and so on. In my opinion, I neither asked for, nor deserved much, if any, of the bad treatment that I got from others. And I made it worse on myself by feeling bad about myself, instead of being a friend to myself.

Life has also given me some wonderful gifts, but sometimes it was difficult to appreciate that, when times were not easy for me. It also took quite a while for me to see start seeing big rewards for all my hard work. I feel like life for some people peaks in their twenties -- they get to be considered attractive in dating, they get to have a fun social life, and it's all wonderful for them until they get a bad divorce, or they get too old to party like they did in their twenties, and then things are probably not quite so fun again.

My life was given a different pattern. Now, as a middle-aged guy, I can look back at life and see it all as a very interesting story, and my old self as someone I would be cheering to myself for, if I were watching it as a movie. I see that I went through a long journey, had some natural talents but also some really rough challenges that I never asked for. Often, I felt alone in dealing with everything I went through, and often I just plain wanted to be actually alone, as in too embarrassed and unhappy to really want to be social, other than with a few friends and family.

I went through these difficult times for years. But I kept working through my challenges as best I could, even though sometimes things didn't go perfectly, and it surely wasn't easy. I didn't have a lot of big help given to me, I didn't come from a wealthy background, but I had my certain amount of natural talent at certain things that helped carry me through.

I had experiences that feel like they very much are mine alone. For example, in college, one of my favorite things to do for fun was stay up late on a Saturday night. I would find all kinds of ways to entertain myself in my room, by myself. By early Sunday morning light, I would head off to get food, partly because campus would be pretty much empty, and I was embarrassed back then even to be seen by many people if I could avoid it, because of so much that I had been through. But at 7 AM on a Sunday morning, on an empty campus, it almost felt like I had the whole campus to myself. I'd get enough of my favorite food for all day, have a one-person party back in my room, and snooze until afternoon, when I would wake up to start studying again.

To some people, this sounds like an incredible loser. But people like that, they'd never understand me. They wouldn't get all the challenges that I had to go through, and who knows how they would have responded, if they were in my shoes.

When you have challenges, you appreciate the good things so much more than if they were all given to you from the start. In my world travels, I have seen people who appear wealthy, walking around great cities looking bored, while I'm having the time of my life getting to see things that I'd heard about all my life, that I didn't know that I'd ever see in person.

That takes me to now. Instead of my life peaking in my twenties, I was given a "slow-build" life: slow and difficult at first, building to a mostly better and better life as I get older, hopefully getting better for most of the rest of my life. And, looking back, I can say that my story has pretty much always been an interesting one. Even the experiences that I had by myself, these will always be parts of my own story that are fairly unique to my personality and understanding.

I turned out to have a pretty cool life. Not what someone who follows the crowd would want, but I am an individual. I find ways to maximize my fun with the resources that I have -- such as that I've been all over the world. I don't have very many friends and close family, but the ones that I have are great people, and I am very loyal to them. I am proud of what I have accomplished and what I have built in life, and I have more to look forward to.

I gave my try at romantic relationships. The results were disappointing. Then I learned about how difficult it was to find success at that these days, for so many guys. I had a few experiences for my efforts. Now I don't take it seriously anymore. It's sad to have to give up on that part of life, but the system didn't really give me much choice. And accepting being single opened up new possibilities in my life, and avoided risks.

My high school made a highlight video of my graduation year, and I was watching some of it the other day. A lot of the social events, I never went to, like dances/parties, and so on. The video had clips of some of that stuff, and I noticed how happy people seemed, and how they were able to fit in with the crowd and have fun. While they were doing that, I was probably at home studying or playing a video game by myself, glad to not have to be in that type of social environment back then. You know what, that feels kind of sad, in a way. But, at the end of the day, I was who I was, I had the challenges that I had, and that was my story. I was not meant to be the guy that goes through life, just like the average person in the crowd. I was given a different path, whether or not I asked for it. Whenever I tried to be what I thought was just like everyone else, I don't think it usually worked well. I'm not a good actor, and I don't have a lot in common with many people anyway. I'm a good person, but I don't fit in. And so, after many years, I've learned that it's okay to be myself. There's nothing wrong with spending a peaceful quiet evening reading, if that's what I enjoy instead of partying.

As far as wondering how things will go for other people, you are free to wonder, but it's really not that important. It's far more important that you are living a happy life, as a good person, that you can be proud of. To me, that's a really important part of life. Other people got experiences that I didn't get to have, but probably I got to have experiences that other people didn't get to have. Some people learn easily, some are great athletes, some have a wealthy background, some people have an easy time when they try to date. Maybe some people seem to get everything, and no challenges to go through in return. But even those people don't really get everything, because they will never know what it's like to go through a challenge, and succeed on the other side of it, to build that character. Also, you never know how many people aren't really that happy, or have gone through embarrassing or hard times, because they may not talk about it. It's like seeing a happy couple at a restaurant -- you don't know if one is cheating on the other, or if they will have a horrible divorce in 5 years. You only see that moment where they look so happy. So, I'd say, pay more attention to your own goals, and don't worry so much about if these people always get to have a super-fun time in the future.

You did better than me in my teens you know? I've been bullied, marginalized, picked on, made fun of, invisible to girls obviously :D i was a loner. As for fun, i started to work and make my own money, that was my fun, i went out a few times and i considered it a waste of time, loud noises coming from loud people and obnoxious music was not fun for me. Now when i think back i almost makes me giggle, i am in such a better place because of it, i learned a few important lessons about life and people from a very young age, once HS was over i moved far away and never looked back, i don't miss any of them and i'll return to reminisce in 10 years maybe. Regrets are pointless, you can only affect your future so live your life the way you want to.

High school was sheer hell for me. I was bullied from the very beginning. Part of the problem was I got sent to a very clannish school where everyone had been in church together since birth or school together since kindergarten or both, and they weren't friendly towards outsiders.

They also hazed freshmen and I stood up for myself, refusing to be degraded and humiliated by seniors for a week, and got no support from my fellow students. I was also put down all the time in other ways, humiliated in the school paper, and the list goes on. I begged my parents to transfer me out, but they refused.

I didn't have a chance with girls since I didn't play sports or come from a super rich family. I was pretty much an outcast, with few friends, and they turned on my when bullied by others who wanted me shunned. My family's home was also vandalized frequently with eggs, toilet paper, swastikas, and the list goes on. That's what I got from going to a Christian school.

I'm glad to be out and have never looked back. Those people actually contacted me a couple of times about attending a reunion. Why would I want to spend an evening surrounded by people who treated me like dirt and condemned and hated me for now reason. In fact, why did they even invite me to begin with?

You have nothing to regret.

It's a common thing to do. One that usually comes up years after leaving highschool. The kids with the cars and all the girls, try not to envy them. Those guys graduate, might go to college, and end up abject failures.They’ve had things easy, but has that helped them? Maybe your school years sucked, but you tell me who is better prepared to enter adulthood? You've had let downs, sure, but you survived. Isn't that better then coasting through school? When real, adult challenges come up, I'd bet on the survivor to figure it out. Someday, even those guys, regardless of success, or not, will look back at highschool, the same way you are right now! They'll ask the same questions you are now. You are not alone!

Learn from your mistakes but also remember that HS is such a small part of your overall life, you have plenty of time to do fun and exciting things.

Also facebook and social media makes it seem more like other people are always having fun and excitement, but those are only the rare highlights.
