Are you in love with your wife?

I've been married to my wife for more than 30 years.

Yes, I love my wife, from the beginning and still today. I also like my wife. I remain happy to be married with her, and have no desire to replace her with a younger model.

However...

My wife is not my "soulmate;" I'm confident that there are many other women in the world I could have been similarly happy with. My wife was not my best friend when we married, or for many years afterward; in many ways she is today, but she can't replace my male friends in other ways. I have no illusions that her love in unconditional; were I to suck or fail too much or too long in too many ways, I believe I could lose her love.

My wife cannot replace my missions or ambitions as the central source of purpose and meaning in my life. Nor can her validation fill any holes in my own self-confidence or self-esteem.

I suspect that I remain happily married and in love with my wife in part because of these "red pill" views on love, not despite them.

You’re asking a sub of married men if they believe in love then you talk about physical attraction.

I’m 53, definitely attracted to my wife, even more so since she’s lost ~20 lbs the last couple years. I’m attracted to her as a person because she’s probably the godliest and most decent person I know, that she’s got good tits is icing. I am attracted to attractive women. That’s how life goes. I’m sure my wife is attracted to The Rock or Chris Hemsworth. Being married doesn’t change biology.

If you’re wondering if your thoughts adjust, yes, a bit, I have zero interest in 18 year old hotties, whereas when I was 18 I wouldn’t look at an older woman. Other than T&A, 18 year olds are of no use, whatsoever. I’ll look at them, but I can do that on the internet. Zero point zero percent of me wants to dump my wife for a younger woman (who will age, as will I).

You sound like a TRP teenager. Your wife will get older. You know that going in, so make d@mn sure before you decide to marry, you’re marrying her, not just her young body that will age and you cannot change that.
