What you are doing is 100% correct. Humans have eyes because we need to see, legs so we can walk, and arms to use tools. Anger also exists for a reason. They key is to use it the right way. Just as it is possible to use legs to jump off a tall building you can use anger wrong as well, but you seem to be using it correctly.

I know the last thing you want to hear from some guy twice your age is that your anger will go away 'in time', but that is exactly what is going to happen. In the meantime enjoy being angry. Being angry can be fun. There will be times in your life where you are at a point where you only feel numb and that is much harder to break out of than anger.

Loneliness and longing for the familiar are natural, especially during these lockdowns where we don't get to interact with people and get various needs met. I totally understand and at 3 decades older than you, it still occurs within me as well. The trick is to remember that that relationship was flawed and to let it go. The old, "Don't sneak out to the trash can and bring the trash back into your house!".

As for your 'revenge' feelings. No, it's not good. It's understandable, but it's only going to waste your time. It's time to do some analysis on the situation and yourself. Make sure you aren't channeling some disappointment with yourself into anger at her.

Storytime: I had kicked my ex to the curb after her third instance of physical abuse. I didn't want that in my life after growing up with it. At the time of me ending it, I wasn't that mad at her, I had just wanted it done. However, a year after that I found I was enraged at her. I'd get spitting mad about what she had done to me. I came to the realization that I wasn't mad at her at all, but at myself, for letting someone lay hands on me without retaliation. I had to forgive myself for this and just let it go, understanding that the way I had handled things was the best route, leading to the best outcome. That if I had become violent with her, I would've been undone and become the monster that some people wanted to believe me to be. The anger I had felt towards her disappeared after that.

TLDR; You will feel much better about yourself and your future when you are able to get past feelings regarding revenge about a past event that is now outside of your control. The only control you have regarding a past event is how you react to it emotionally now.
