I'm seeing a lot of girls self identify as 'nerd' lately. Back in my day, a nerd was someone who was first and foremost intelligent. Nerds loved to study for the sake of acquiring knowledge, and not merely scoring high grades. Nerds also possessed impressive Mathematical ability and above average tech proficiency (ie they could code).

The women who call themselves nerds are actually geeks. People use the terms nerd and geek interchangeably but the former is a mindset whereas the latter is just a shallow subculture. Since the majority of women lack the fortitude to adopt a mindset (except narcissism which they excel at), and since they also fail at math and tech, they instead become geeks. They enter into a subculture and mimic trends because that is the path of least effort. It's time to take back the word nerd.
