The only reason I watch the early reruns was for Sheldon. Whatever his faults, he was pretty much MGTOW, especially on the parts where he found sexual intercourse to be disgusting, where he questioned things like giving gifts, where he mocked Leonard for being a needy simp, and especially when he slut shamed the fuck outta Penny. I particularly liked the dinner scene where he reveals using equations that Penny has had 31 partners to which Amy asks her "are you a slut!" to which Penny answers "NO, NO!!.....no....".

Of course that's where it went downhill from there. Amy was intended as a Sheldon with tits which was going to get old very quick. So they turned her into a horny needy girl who only wants Sheldon in her loins. And Penny was there encouraging her. Which is ironic how Howard showed the same behavior early on and was labeled a creepy.

And now that we're pretty much on quarantine now that my gym closed yesterday, I may end up doing a critique thread on the Big Bang Theory on what I see as hypocritical stuff that I found on it, particularly in the later seasons, which is where I tapped out.

Would have liked the show if it wasn't for her. She kinda ruins the whole idea in my opinion. If it was a show about smart/geeky nerds and above-average-iq jokes, would have been pretty cool. Kinda like the show Fraiser used to be, but for physics/science instead of psychology. Or even Rick and Morty before it went full SJW/normie.

But, of course, the geeks are the goofy comedy relief around the "normal, but still perfect" girl for thots to self-insert as. If she had been another geeky nerd (like how Fraiser's ex-wife was basically a female version of him), it would have been better.

Check out IT-crowd if you want to see a show that ALMOST fits this pattern. Of course, the one female lead on the show is their boss, but part of the humor is that she's managing the IT team and has NO fucking idea what IT does (not a Mary Sue that just "gets" it magically at least).

while i am proud to say i've never watched this show... to be fair, unless the character has flaws, it's impossible to find humor. It is odd to me however, in this astute list, why feminists are not outraged that she is a stereotype and haven't been rioting to have the show cancelled. Right?

I think this illusion runs so deep that its not just a negotiating position for women, its their belief structure. You'd get blank stares for saying this in a polite, non judgmental way. I'm tired of pretending someone like her is valuable, and even though me from 10+ years ago would find her attractive, it fades away because now I evaluate personality more than looks. Then I get why crushes I had were never compatible.

The show was decent the first few seasons, but it was mostly because Sheldon didn't give a fuck and he was the only one not simping. Leonard was chasing Penny, Howard was thirsty and Raj was halfway towards being an incel.

Once the other girls came in it just became another shitty drama show worshiping vaginas.

Well, full disclosure: I kinda have a soft spot for the Big Bang Theory, because it started me off on my red pill journey. It was a scene where Leonard made some remark -- nothing outrageous, he just was standing up for himself for once -- and Penny hauls off and slaps his face.

And nobody else in the scene said a fucking thing. It was written as totally normal and okay for her to slap him for no fucking reason. I waited for some sort of comeback to happen to her - because that's how fiction works: the good end happily, and the bad unhappily. So if things end well for a character, then the actions of that character are validated. Anyhow... I'm still waiting. Even though it didn't intend to, TBBT started me thinking. I feel I have to give it some credit on that basis.

But on to the rest.

Ever noticed how all the female characters are better at whatever they turn their hands to than the guys? At one point the guys persuade Penny to play Halo with them. Leonard starts to explain the rules and the controls, and she just picks up the controller, presses a button. There's an explosion (we can't see the TV screen) and she says "Got it." So in the two seconds it took her to pick up the controller, she's gained all the gaming skills that the guys have developed by (no doubt obsessive) play throughout their childhoods? She then goes on to commit a number of breaches of fair play (like shooting up another player who's AFK), but the criticism of her unsportsmanlike play is voiced by Sheldon, and framed to make it sound whiny and childish. She shrugs it off. Rules don't apply to her.

Or what about Sheldon? He's supposed to be this genius. It's stated often in the series. Of course the writers aren't smart enough to be able to actually write him as a genius.

(In fact, the writers are so dumb that in one episode they have him discover a "new element." They evidently haven't head of the Periodic Table of the Elements, or if they have, they haven't understood that there are no free "slots" where such a new element could exist undiscovered. It would be like finding a new whole number between one and two. The whole of modern chemistry and physics would be disproved by such a discovery. So if Sheldon, supposedly a genius, did make such a discovery, it would be published in Nature, and be all over the news, not published by some obscure academic journal.)

So okay, they're not bright enough to show us he's a genius, but they sure do tell us this a lot, and Sheldon has enough annoying personality flaws that he sure wouldn't be kept around if he wasn't contributing something to the department. So in-universe, he's a genius.

Yet Leslie Vinkel (who swings by the apartment to use Leonard as her dildo for the evening) casually corrects Sheldon's math, (it's up on a marker board in the living room), and Sheldon (after throwing a hissy fit, designed to undermine his legitimate irritation at someone interfering with his paid work) is all "now it all works... I see!"

And let's not go into Howard's situation, with Bernadette's unpredictable temper and controlling nature. She quietly and unilaterally gets rid of stuff she knows he likes, she uses money to control him, and when she gets angry she sounds like his mother -- which he thinks is sexy. Tell me that marriage isn't going to be a car crash.

Yeah, I know: it's a comedy. But often claiming something "was only a joke" is just a cover to mask nastier motivations. The Big Bang Theory is feminist to its core, and feminism is just another word for misandric sexism.

Once again, we men are being told to just "suck it up, boys." This is the way the world is.

Well fuck that. That's why I'm MGTOW. Fuck you very much Big Bang Theory, I'm outta here.

Looks like I'm kinda late to the party but I used to be a big fan of this show but it had been getting worse and worse with each episode. So yea my favorite character was of course Sheldon. He used to be sassy and savage as fuck roasting the whole pack in his overly logical and nonchalant style while remaining the voice of reason and always having an upper hand despite his unusual glamor. His behavior was unusual but then they just turned him into some mental illness ridden freak. Guess people think being smart means being a full blown weirdo. At some point it seemed like he completely lost his old personality and all that remained was a hotchpotch of OCDS and social communication issues. He became more like a pet than a person with Amy taking advantage of his flaws and creating a dependency on her just to feed her creepy obsession with him. Absolutely disgusting. Then there appeared a trend to portrait Sheldon struggling with basic everyday problems and Penny solving them for him to make her seem as the wise and smart and Sheldon as a child in an adult's body. This character wasn't done any justice. Also at the beginning of the show the friends were there for each other while later they just started to make fun of each one to appear more cool. The worst was obviously Leonard who couldn't get of the high horse after getting Penny. The show had potential but it decided to just make fun of the main characters and portrait them as deserving to be laughed at instead of deriving the humor from the difference between how the main cast perceives the world and what it values VS how the majority of people do. The funniest thing was how the female cast who had as much if not more flaws than the original characters plus acted all demanding and imperious was portrayed as the best thing that could happen to the protagonists.

Didn't watch too much of the series but it just seemed like a circlejerk that trotted out a lot of old stereotypes. The Jewish mama's boy, smart people are scatter-brained and socially awkward, the waitress is just smart as the PHDs but in a different way, etc.

It also made normies feel like they knew as much about nerd hobbies as the guy who actually got his ass kicked regularly and played DnD in middle school. I can't help but feel that it's in part responsible for the recent attacks on comics and games.

Is it though? Audience may. I always considered her to be the lucky one. But in the show, it has been quite clear that each of them feel they are lucky to get the other. They did make some jokes about how he chased her but he was also quite successful at getting laid.

And honestly, I don't think anyone thinks she is too good for him. Infact, I have heard the opposite being said when he chased her in earlier seasons. Not even the audience. Maybe a very small minority.

I love the science and the nerdy stuff, the show tries to blue pill you into believing that settling for a used up cc rider is the ideal thing to do. I find it pathetic and rather irksome because it nearly brainwashed me aswell.
