Never heard of that rule before.
Where i come from if you’re young and healthy you’re expected to give your seat to the elderly and handicapped, regardless of gender.
Would never even cross my mind to give a young woman my seat.

Unless your lap is the seat.

What? You guys have to yield your seats to women where you live?
I only yield to elderly or disabled. I don't see the point of doing that to pregnant women though, I don't see them getting up for fat people.
"Oh, but I didn't choose to be like that". Sure, you're Holy Mary and God chose you for the return of Jesus.
Edit: spacing was wrong.
[–]ItIsABear0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. Though I guess you should also give disabled people your seats. And 9 times out of 10, women are disabled.
[–]DoctorMartain93 points94 points95 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Wait so we work our asses of all day to come onto public transportation to be harassed for not giving up our seat for a woman wtf kind of logic is that.
[–]Sir_manalot41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
This reminds me of Rosa Parks lol.
Black woman being forced to give up seat to healthy white person.
Vs.
White man being forced to give up seat for healthy woman.
It is pretty dang funny actually. White men are literally being treated as second class citizens in many ways.
And it is okay because we are "privileged."
[–]DoctorMartain13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In this Social Justice Nightmare this is only the beginning.
[–]jellyclawz0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Its hard to be second class and the richest group of people with the largest government representation and the majority of the population. If white men are the oppressed group then you must be oppressing yourselves... everyone wants to be a victim.

Women sit all day at a desk anyway doing receptionist stuff. At most they are waitress or nurses (which require walking)
Rarely are women doing an active sweaty job
[–]DarkDragonX12367 points68 points69 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Yes, you’re always expected to offer your seat to ladies.
Is it because they have two breasts that make it harder for them to stay upright because they shift their centre of gravity? In that case, my balls do the same.
[–]frikabg45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
i would gladly give my seat to a lady the moment I actually meet one! :D
[+]greyslopp-9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]getfreeeeeeedom46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think he means there are women but very few ladies. Hence he doesn't give up his seat

Ladies are like dinosaurs.
The only ones still around are fossils.
[–]frikabg1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
sooo saying that today's women are not worth giving your seat over here is picking the wrong subreddit? You either missed the point entirely which is on you OR you are on the wrong subreddit either way you are failing at redditing! ;)

[–]ScaredIllustrator1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
women store fat in their bum, hips and breasts mainly. if its hard for them to stay upright they need to get fit
[–]cenaluc62 points63 points64 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
You could be forced to pay child support if you give up your seat to a single mom in canada.
[–]Droz_649 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Wait what
[–]hrm089418 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Canadian law forces you to pay child support, even if you're not the baby's father.
NEVER ASSOCIATE SEXUALLY WITH SINGLE MOMS IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM.
[–]xeq9375 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't remember if it was Canada or Australia, but they were working on a law that said if you lived with a single mother for a TOTAL of 12 months (not even required to be contiguously) then she could hang alimony on you. Think about all the situations and ways to abuse that. Guys were freaking out because it wasn't clear if it would apply retroactively.

Feminism is a supremacist movement.
[–]LabTech4114 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Looking up the article, the man in question is a reporter, which gives me pause to wonder if the entire situation isn't manufactured to inject some sort of narrative into the public's awareness. I mean, if you work for the media, you know what the deal is; so the idea that he's going to die on this hill seems far-fetched to me... but a story that ends with the subconscious message "if you don't give up your seat to a woman, no matter what the circumstances, you could end up publicly shamed and ostracized" seems much more up the MSM's alley. I mean, can you reasonably see the media bringing this up and even remotely taking the man's side of the argument?

[–]LabTech410 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, but for every one person who suspects it or deduces it, there's a thousand that'll take the subliminal message hook, line, and sinker.
If there hasn't already, I suspect we won't have to wait too much longer until we get an IRL example of this messaging in effect, where some girl is going to use the above story as justification for why Male X needs to get off his seat so that she can take it. I suspect it's already happened, and simply concluded as a non-story because the man capitulated; we won't hear about it until a man decides he's too tired or too stubborn to not stand down.
[–]_ImS_11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You know you're a second class citizen when you have to argue why you can sit down.
[–]carninja6810 points11 points12 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
If there is a lot of people I prefer to stand rather than being boxed in sitting down.
That way I can get up and go faster

Well in Delhi Metro there are at least 4 seats in each coach for women. And one entire goddamn coach just for ladies. I do get the concept of having one coach just for ladies bcs well they do get harassed in general coaches. But what's the point of at least 4 seats for ladies??? Man wtf. And they have attitude so shitty, if you sat on a ladies seat those bitches will act like they own the train and will remove you from the reserved seat.
[–]RoadG136 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe pregnant ones. Other than elders, handicaped people, no.
[–]kidsinmyvan5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Perfect example of wanting equality only when its in their favor. This is why when I used to go out a lot I would never buy a female a drink.
[–]Joroda3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Technically, the rules of being a gentleman were always intended to keep the idea of leadership as one that serves. When men were ruling households, it was a reminder that as leaders, they serve. The unfortunate truth is that when women decided for equality, certain women with unnecessarily loud voices wanted not equal but preferential treatment and are trying to define it as equality. As a female myself, I have giving up my own seat before for somebody who had just gotten on when either I didn't have a long way to go or I had been sitting for a while and wouldn't mind standing anyway. Most of the time, they politely decline, and that is their choice and I'm fine with that. However, I have given the males the opportunity just as I would to another woman. We who so loudly claim we want equality need to accept what equality truly means. We want somebody to do something for us, we need to be willing to do the same.

In Moscow, Russia it is normal to give up your seat for women, but then women in Russia act like ladies so men don't mind acting like gentlemen. That changed a long time ago in the West.

i have had to deal with a bad ankle/leg (originating from an accident early in my life) no ONE has ever given me their seat.
"oh you walk a bit funny, but i see you can still stand, get fucked then"
now i'm at the point where i will flat out refuse it if anyone would actually offer me it. i've dealt with having to stand with a bad ankle all my life, i can stand this one aswell.
(FYI dutch inner city public transport is bad.. if you enter the buss at certain stops your almost gauranteed to not be able to sit)
[–]MGTOWrath0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Unsolicited advice: You should start taking care of it. The pain in your ankle/leg will only get worse the older you get.

She pays the same fee as I do ...I work 16 hour days... six days a week (!)...no way am I giving up my seat just because someone was born a female! "But I'm tired" So am I! Welcome to equality!

And then it is what they call manspreading. If my balls need a comfortable space between my legs I do open them. Not the same the amount of bags you put beside you after your shopping, bitch!

I'm America there is no transit but men would never be expected to give up a seat for a woman.
Only the ops and pregnant get positive seating social pressure. Not that I give a crap about someone else's pregnancy but that's a small enough pool that it's ok.
