Bisexuality is a big red flag. Most bi women I know are slutty and crazy. So, it will increase over time because women are becoming more slutty and crazy.

We know that women consider most men unattractive. However, men consider most women at least somewhat attractive. I feel this is somewhat cross gender. For instance, a legitimate male 7 and female 7 are beside each other, they really have the same overall attractiveness.

Women date other women because:

99.9% of the time it's because they just like each other. It's really not that deep. It's like, why are so many women and men getting together? Because they have things in common and enjoy being together.
A lot of a relationship is about being able to relate to each other so girls can relate with periods and clothes and makeup and other typically girly stuff. Also it's more likely for women to have things in common with each other than with men.
Women can always admit when other girls are pretty. It's not like when guys are like "no homo". Girls are used to being close at all times (like when we have sleepovers we share the same beds, do each other's makeup so we get close in each other's faces etc) so the jump from that to a sexual relationship really isn't that hard.

It's a consequence of modern culture. Gay relationships are not as ostrascized as they were in the past. Every movie or tv show nowadays portrays gay relationships in order to fill quotas and to normalize this behaviour. Additionally, we live in an age where men are seen as evil and sexist. The misogynist card is always being played against us in popular culture. Masculinity is no longer seen as a powerful trait because it's constantly being portrayed in a negative light.
Consequently, women start thinking that they no longer need a man to fulfill their sex needs. Thing is, they don't choose straight females as same-sex partners (straight as in, OG females with female traits). They choose women that resemble men because biologically their brains are programmed to demand a male partner, but culture taught them that they don't need one. So this creates a conflict in their brain, which results in pursuing relationships with the "fat ugly" women you mention in your post.

The expression of this fluidity depends on environmental factors (culture, social, etc.). Today, lesbian pairings are "chic". Hollywood and the related supermodel world are peppered with it now, from Cara DeLevingne to Amber Heard to Kristen Stewart to countless others. For a hot young woman to have a GF is now not only accepted but celebrated in the media culture. So when that is the context -- lots of celebrity women who are quite attractive being in lesbian relationships, or going back and forth between being with men and women -- it provides a context where that underlying sexual fluidity in most women, which was always there, expresses itself more freely and openly. That's what we're seeing today.

Note that this is quite independent of how women identify themselves. Only a very small number of women self-identify as exclusively lesbian (it's a smaller percentage of women than the percentage of men who say they are exclusively gay). Not very many more women identify as bisexual, probably because they define bisexual in a way that excludes them, regardless of their behavior. So you can have women who have hooked up with a number of women sexually saying that they are not bisexual, or even women who have been in a relationship with a woman before as GF/GF saying they are not bisexual -- which really only means that they are defining bisexual as being something much more limited than the standard definition of someone who is attracted to some degree to both sexes. So, as with everything else, you can't really go by what they are saying (in terms of whether they say they are bisexual), but look at what they are doing (have they hooked up with (beyond 1-2 times experimentation), or dated, other women) to see what is really going on.

So, bottom line, yes all (not literally all, but most) women are bisexual in potential to some degree -- some more than others, but most have at least some latent attraction to other women, whether they have acted on it or not. The current environment strongly, strongly encourages women to act on this, because it celebrates GF/GF relationships among admired, hot, young celebrity women. So in that context you're going to see more of it going on. I think the rise of porn has an influence, too (when women watch porn, lots of them are watching lesbian porn), but that influence is much smaller than seeing many hot young female celebs hooking up with other hot young female celebs. Herd culture and all that.

Haven't read any of the other responses yet, so here's my theory. I think many of this "bicurious" phenomenon is straight out of what we talk about here: they're genetically yearning to be with a real man, yet they are getting harder and harder to find.

Example: I was out with a group of girls I work with. Two engaged, the other a lesbian. So girl A (we'll call her April), didn't have to work in the morning, so I proceed to goad her into drinking way too much. Then the talking starts. April A) Doesn't like sex with her fiancé (balding and scrawny, met him before). B) He's a diesel engineer, she married him for his money. So I guess my conclusion is many of these bisexual women really want men, they just can't find any so they're desperately turning to women to search for some sort of sexual gratification. My story also illustrates some classic RP truths.

women are not inherently more bisexual. dig a little deeper into longstanding research that is not chained to identity politics and that focuses on actual behavior cross-culturally over long periods of time . To keep it brief (and therefore brutally simplistic) women are looking for providers/protectors and will engage in behaviors that increase their chances of securing this. Men spread their semen freely to whomever come who may and, as well, to settle disputes, establish dominance or authority, or for just plain pleasure.

There is a plethora of reasons for this. It comes down to though:

All women are sort of bisexual to a point (attraction can be rationalized)

Alot of dominant alpha females in the business world also end up going lesbians for a time regardless of how femme they are, if a man can't fulfill their expectations or whatever, I've seen this happen several times.

Also, my friend who was a junkie (like I used to be), overdosed and died recently. Me, him, and his girlfriend all used to shoot dope together. I went to rehab, he died, she went to jail and got clean.
