Because we are living in the "me too offended" era, that's why.
Because boys cannot be boys and push each other anymore, they run quickly crying under their mommy's skirt.
That's why we have to signal that "IT'S JUST A JOOOKE, PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED".

Too many times I’ve been downvoted and argued for obvious sarcasm so I just use /s as much as I can

Sometimes its necessary. Sarcasm is often quite difficult to discern in written form and there are people even here who take these comments far too seriously.

Yes, "end of sarcasm" precisely. It comes from phpBB, an old framework used for forums back in the pre-FaceBook era. It used a html like markup language in the form of [bold]bold[/bold], and thus [sarcasm][/sarcasm], or just /s.

It's funny how feminists expect everyone to take something like "sexist air conditioning" seriously but the second that anyone criticizes the Gillette commercial they basically just call them a fucking pussy and completely write it off.
I'd love to see a Maybelline commercial similar to this just so they can get a little taste of their own medicine. I can only imagine the outrage. Hypocrites.

the (in itself pointless) article ends with this:
I am blessed to have many good men in my life, who are positive role models for the next generation of boys and girls, who want healthy and safe relationships for everyone. These are men who don’t feel threatened or defensive when the behavior of others is questioned since they know they are not the ones being referred to. These are the men who don’t see ‘feminist’ as a dirty word that robs them of their manhood.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm afraid we're all stuck within the confines of our own imaginations because it'll never happen. If anything, they'll be an add doubling down on the female imperative. Anyone who is skyrocketed to the point of being nigh unimpeachable, is not strong....it's stupid. Having the odds stacked in your favor isn't empowering, it's a fucking handicap because anything you accomplish will be a sub-category. I'm sure you recall that tweet from that one woman who stated she was mad about women being sub categories. Well guess what, if you don't want to be a sub category? Then don't be a fucking sub category.

Who's the marketing genius at Gillette that thought this AD will increase Gillette sales ? You're not going to increase sales and you'll probably lose a shit load of customers... Who's the marketing director ? What's HER NAME??
Can you imagine that ad pitch meeting? “Here’s what we’re thinking: Feminism!” Okaaay? 🤨 “We explain to men that they’re defective. Like your razors!” Um..we sell those razors. To men. “Yeah. So we hop on the #MeToo wagon and them they’re scum. Like what’s left after you shave.” 😁 Female Marketing Director chimes in: I LOVE IT!

I just debated a guy that said women have more fear and trauma than men.
I grew up in town where men where fair game for all acts of violence but the code of the streets for the most part exempted women.
I told him about a friend of mine that was robbed and beaten with bats he suffered a fractured skull broken nose jaw and ribs and other life long injuries, this guy said rape is more traumatic than that.
I would never minimize the trauma of rape but we shouldn't minimalise the trauma men suffer either. The majority of all violence, including assualt and murder are against men.

Yea cause the hundreds-year-old systematic validation of men acting like shit is the same as desperate loser women lying about something that's only been taken seriously for the last 20 years even. Before then, rape allegations were not even humored if the woman was in a marriage. Everyone knows that you can't be raped by your husband! I just saw the ad on Youtube and tbh I don’t understand what’s that big of a deal? It just shows to treat each other with respect. I’m also glad that it portrays an important issue among men which is toxic masculinity. I don’t know what you people are on about.
[–]Emanresu_rouy_esoohc18 points19 points20 points 5 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link
treat each other with respect
A company that sells hygiene products wants to talk about respect. Next time you ride the bus and someone stinks, show some respect.
important issue among men which is toxic masculinity
What you call toxic masculinity is nothing more than men mimicking female behaviour. Femininity + male brain = toxic masculinity.
[–]fenbekus-1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’ve seen a lot of men perpetuating the masculinity ideal in my country. Not saying women don’t do it, but it’s really not a sex-exclusive issue.
[+]fenbekus-17 points-16 points-15 points 5 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link
What does that have to do with anything?!
So in your view we should continue the stupid “strong courageous male” stereotype? Because in my view it’s only hurtful. Like in the ad, boys get bullied for being too soft, men can’t show emotions or they’re called “pathetic” etc. Doesn’t sound too appealing...
[–]Emanresu_rouy_esoohc14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What has the Ad to do with respect?
stupid “strong courageous male” stereotype?
Being courageous is a good thing, living a life in fear is stupid. Being strong is a good thing, it will give you the self-esteem to choose your own path.
Your stereotype has nothing to do with toxic masculinity, you tried.
boys get bullied for being too soft
Women will fuck the bully and laugh about the victim. It is women that keep this behaviour alive. Look up the white feather movement, men went to war, because women shamed them.
[+]fenbekus-11 points-10 points-9 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Define toxic masculinity for me then, because that’s what I’ve assumed it tackles.
Well then they’re part of the problem too. Obviously nor women or men are 100% perfect, but I still think it’s important to identify the problem and try to fix it.
[–]Emanresu_rouy_esoohc0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]dtaylortx0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I quote the dude who shot this viral: my wife’s boyfriend loved this. You’re part of the problem with this culture being weak. Nature does not care about your feelings. Being strong is what allowed us to survive 26,000 years past protohumans and another 4 billion years of evolution to get that far. Either realize you’ve been suckered, cucked or fucked stupid. You can break this ad down to three basics: race, sex and political agenda. White Cis Males are evil according to the ad and men are defective. What messages are a young man going to internalize? Shame for being male and to eschew his own body’s attempt to mature for procreation.
[–]fenbekus1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Can you please timestamp the moments that you are talking about because I have no idea how you’re seeing that in that ad? All I see is general message of mutual respect between people and protecting the weaker. I have no idea where you see the attacks. As a white European male, I do not feel attacked in the slightest.
Someone already did: https://youtu.be/O8pBNOi5QaQ
[–]Scipio_Amer1canus2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
Men should be strong and courageous, and we should spend our time on noble pursuits that bring value to our lives and to society. Whether it's the example of Cincinnatus, Scipio Africanus, George Washington, or Neal Armstrong - they were all great men who proved their strength and courage, and they are fine examples for all men to follow.
If being strong and courageous scares you, then I would suggest that your life requires some self examination. If there is nothing you value such that you are willing to be strong and courageous in its defense, then I suspect your life is leaning toward empty. And only you can change that.
Soyboys will never contribute anything of value except as "yes men" for feminazis.
[–]fenbekus-1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link
Not everyone has to or even wants to accomplish extraordinary goals. There are people who just want to live ordinary lives and do whatever brings them joy, and the whole toxic culture just hurts them.
[–]Scipio_Amer1canus-3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
If you want to live your life scrubbing toilets or flipping burgers, princess, you go right ahead. If you want to live your life such that no one ever knows you existed, that's your call. But you will never experience real joy until you set for yourself some great challenges, and then overcome them.
[–]fenbekus0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
Lol “no one ever knows you existed”. 99,9% of people will not be remembered, even those who supposedly reached something. And it’s fucking meaningless, we’ll be dead anyways. People glorifying being remember are fools. Death doesn’t care who you are, we all end up as food for worms.

99,9% of people will not be remembered
Why wasting your time with the myth of "toxic masculinity", people wont remember shit.
[–]fenbekus1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Because it affects people now, and living people is pretty much what matters the most. Not glorifying billionaires.
[–]Emanresu_rouy_esoohc4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I will quote you
And it’s fucking meaningless, we’ll be dead anyways.
In your own words, your fight against the "toxic culture" is meaningless.
You should use introspection and solve your inner conflict, because your arguments are driven by emotions.
[–]Scipio_Amer1canus1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
And that to you is a viable excuse for having no ambition in your life? Huh.
[–]fenbekus0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well that’s where depression and living in a poor country gets you.
[–]Scipio_Amer1canus1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For what it's worth, I genuinely hope you can overcome those obstacles. Often times the greatest battles a man will fight are within - doubt, fear (of both failure AND success,) loneliness.... But all of those things fade when you have purpose. It doesn't really matter what it is (hopefully it's ethical) and it doesn't matter how long it takes to find - the effort is worth it.
Your greatest enemy, and your greatest ally, look back at you every time you look in the mirror. Every single one of us goes through that struggle. But your mindset can be altered by choice - even cooler, your brain will actually rewire itself based on your thoughts.
"Fake it 'til you make it" if you have to, but I would urge you to nudge yourself out of your comfort zone a little and don't be afraid to imagine something great for yourself.
[–]siriusisness9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]mgtowvic1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
There is no such thing as "toxic masculinity". What this commercial and feminists demonize is just masculinity. Boys wrestling each other is not toxic. Men finding women attractive is not toxic, and most catcalling is nothing more than words.
The idea that men have to be responsible for the minority of men who are rapists is ludicrous. Women should feel responsible for the female rapists according to this logic. Women don't need white knights standing up for them and fighting their battles.
[–]fenbekus-1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It’s not about “wrestling”, it’s about bullying the weaker boys, it’s literally shown in the ad.
And catcalling is just primitive and pointless and we should make it look bad. It’s not that hard to keep your mouth shut.
